Associate Chair, Online Faculty

Purpose of the Position:

The Associate Chair, Online Faculty, supports the Chair in managing and enhancing the quality of online education programs. This role involves overseeing faculty performance, ensuring academic standards, and fostering a collaborative environment to promote student success and faculty development.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Faculty Supervision and Development: Oversee the performance and professional growth of online faculty, providing mentorship and support to ensure high-quality teaching standards.
  2. Curriculum Management: Collaborate with faculty to develop, review, and enhance online course content, ensuring it meets academic and institutional standards.
  3. Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of online programs.
  4. Student Support: Address student concerns and feedback, working to improve the overall online learning experience.
  5. Administrative Duties: Assist the Chair with administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and policy implementation to ensure smooth departmental operations.
  6. Lead with Care: Lead, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of wellness, recognition, and engagement. Meet regularly with direct reports in one-on-one and group settings to provide feedback and cultivate/maintain a positive work culture.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • A master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in higher education, including online education and faculty supervision.
  • Skills – proven leadership, program development, excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, and enhancing online education.
  • Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Any advanced degree or equivalent experience and/or strong or advanced proficiency in any of the above required skills/experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Other skills or abilities – innovative instructional technology and delivery practices, research and service to the academic community, strategic planning, and experience in allied health academic programs.

Compliance: 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable state laws and rules, federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and internal policies and procedures.  
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department. 

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This is a full-time remote position, with occasional onsite travel required.
  • Home office set up, quiet place to work, ability to be on camera, ability to be on camera, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
  • May require setup of computer equipment; accommodation consideration available upon request.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.

Compensation Range

$81,500 - $81,500 USD
