Ultimate Medical Academy is a non-profit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus.

Purpose of the Position:
The Associate Vice President (AVP), Programs and Academic Affairs provides strategic and operational leadership for online campus programs, aligning with the organization’s vision and goals. This role focuses on enhancing program effectiveness and fostering continuous improvement in student outcomes, instruction, and educational quality. By overseeing faculty and staff development, the AVP ensures a rich learner experience and improved student success. An expert in innovative strategies for non-traditional adult learners, this leader promotes a culture of care, quality, and engagement, leveraging advancements and technologies to accelerate learning and prepare students for their careers.
What you’ll do:
- Strategic Program Leadership: Partner with the VP of Program and Academic Affairs to develop and implement strategies for new programs, expansions, and enhancements.
- Operational Excellence: Lead the execution of online education initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement in student and faculty performance through refined administrative and operational practices.
- Feedback Integration: Facilitate regular opportunities for programmatic leadership and faculty to provide feedback and recommendations for curriculum and program effectiveness.
- Student Success Planning: Collaborate with online departmental leadership to develop and execute plans for student academic success, including metrics for evaluating outcomes.
- Faculty Development: Partner with senior academic leaders to support faculty engagement and development, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and leading performance management programs.
- Personal Development: Commit to personal growth by attending conferences and identifying professional development activities to bring new concepts and approaches to the team.
- Learning Outcomes Leadership: Define and refine instructional design strategies, build processes for superior learning outcomes, and serve as an educational liaison to support services.
- Compliance and Goal Achievement: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and accrediting body regulations, communicate compliance requirements, and collaborate with the online management team to achieve organizational goals in student satisfaction, retention, placement, graduation rates, and academic progress.
- Budget Management: Develop, manage, or support budget allocation. Allocate resources strategically to support various programs, workshops, events, and outreach efforts.
- Lead with Care: Lead, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of wellness, recognition, and engagement. Meet regularly with direct reports in one-on-one and group settings to provide feedback and cultivate/maintain a positive work culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:
- Masters degree with an education or business focus with complimentary experience in the field of education and/or business.
- 15+ years’ experience in education or training.
- 10+ years’ experience in a leadership role.
- Skills – proactive trend identification, operational orientation, attention to detail, stakeholder/relationship management, business acumen, influence and innovation.
- Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
- Ability to support of a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.
Preferred Requirements:
- Any advanced degree, or equivalent experience, especially in education or business.
- Any professional certifications or specialty.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Other skills and abilities – leading educational programs serving non-traditional student populations, online learning programs, and/or for-profit or non-profit educational organizations.
Compliance:
- Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state laws and rules, compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and, and internal policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- This is a full-time remote position with occasional onsite travel required for in-person events, meetings and/or conferences.
- Home office set up, quiet place to work, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
- May require setup of computer equipment; accommodation consideration available upon request.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.
Compensation Range
$156,000 - $170,000 USD
