Account Director

Brooklyn, NY

Who We Are

We are an award-winning independent creative solutions company that aspires to be the most culturally-influential organization in the world. We help ambitious brands harness the power of culture to solve their biggest challenges. As a unique mix of experts in culture, technology, and storytelling, we are united by a passion to grow brands in ways that advertising alone cannot achieve.

At Translation, we are entrepreneurial – not a traditional “ad agency.” That means we value resourcefulness and tenacity as much as creativity and intelligence. We’re unapologetically ambitious!

We are looking for an Account Director to join Translation! Please note that this role is a Hybrid role: three days in office and two days remote.

As an Account Director, you will be a strategic leader, driving client success and ensuring the seamless execution of high-impact campaigns. You will cultivate strong client relationships, guide cross-functional teams, and champion innovative solutions that align with business objectives. With a sharp focus on both creative excellence and operational efficiency, you will play a pivotal role in growing accounts, optimizing workflows, and delivering measurable results. Your ability to think strategically, lead with confidence, and foster collaboration will be instrumental in shaping the success of both our agency and the brands we serve.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the seamless execution and delivery of client initiatives on assigned account(s), with strategic guidance from a Group Account Director and other senior team members, to:
    • Ensure exceptional client satisfaction and consistently deliver high-quality work.
    • Champion breakthrough creative solutions while fostering strong, collaborative relationships with clients to drive innovation and operational efficiency.
    • Develop and defend budget recommendations, creative objectives, and KPIs to ensure both excellence and profitability.
    • Think proactively beyond immediate tasks to identify opportunities for organic business growth.
    • Direct and empower account teams to execute projects flawlessly, optimizing resources and workflow.

  • Work seamlessly with internal stakeholders across Project Management, Production, Creative, Strategy, Context, and Finance to effectively manage client business:
    • Oversee client/account budgets with precision, leveraging strong scope definition, risk assessment, and change management protocols.
    • Tackle challenges with creative problem-solving and sharp decision-making, ensuring project teams stay motivated and resilient under pressure.
    • Lead the development and execution of creative deliverables with a commitment to excellence and efficiency.
  • Cultivate Strong Client & Partner Relationships:
    • Build and maintain trusted relationships with agency partners, including media agencies, brand partners, and other stakeholders adjacent to the client relationship.
    • Serve as a confident and authoritative agency voice, proactively identifying challenges and opportunities to guide clients and internal teams effectively.
    • Anticipate and address potential client relationship or revenue risks, keeping agency leadership informed to enable proactive action.
    • Act as the agency’s day-to-day lead, demonstrating deep knowledge of client needs, competitive landscapes, industry trends, and key projects.
    • Stay ahead of relevant industry developments, news, and insights to provide clients with informed, strategic counsel.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A results-driven mindset balanced with a deep appreciation for culture, people, and values.
  • Strong diplomacy, political acumen, and an ability to navigate complex dynamics with confidence and optimism.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong sense of accountability and pride in delivering outstanding work.
  • Extensive experience supporting and leading complex productions.
  • A solid understanding of media solutions and communications planning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience in an agency or communications-related industry, with a well-rounded understanding of advertising, marketing, media, creative, production, public relations, research, and agency finance.

Salary Hiring Range: $105,000 - $135,000

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide (e.g. bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, etc.)

Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.  We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors.

The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted.  If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.

The salary range above is for the NY/CA.  As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired in another location.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
