Senior Quantity Surveyor - Bulb Interiors

Role Profile

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of a number of projects from pre-construction to final account. This includes managing all aspects of the commercial and contractual requirements and ensuring our projects are delivered within budget. You will play a key role in managing client relationships, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the overall success of our projects.

Responsibilities include but not limited to

  • Lead the preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans from the pre-construction phase.
  • Manage all commercial and contractual matters on projects, including variations, valuations, and final accounts.
  • Prepare and issue tender documents, analyse tender returns, and negotiate with subcontractors to secure the best value.
  • Prepare and submit applications for payment and ensure timely payment from clients.
  • Administer and manage all contractual terms and conditions, ensuring compliance and mitigating commercial risk.
  • Work collaboratively with the project team, including Project Managers, Designers, and Operations staff, to ensure project delivery within budget.
  • Provide regular and accurate financial reports and forecasts to senior management and clients.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and assess project costs.
  • Assist in resolving contractual and commercial disputes.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, providing guidance and training on quantity surveying best practices.
  • Negotiate and settle final accounts with subcontractors and clients.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the commercial interior fit-out or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of various forms of contract, including JCT and NEC.
  • Demonstrable experience with project values exceeding £5m.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A relationship-focused approach to clients and subcontractors.
  • Recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction field.
  • Familiarity with local market and subcontractor base is highly desirable.
