In- House Ethics Attorney
At The United Firm, the in-house ethics attorney will play a crucial role in upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct within the company. Your expertise and guidance will help the company navigate complex legal and ethical challenges while fostering a culture of compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide timely and accurate guidance to attorneys and staff on ethical issues arising in client matters, including conflicts of interest, confidentiality, and attorney-client privilege
- Conduct thorough reviews of client matters to ensure compliance with ethical rules and regulations governing the practice of law, including state bar rules and regulations, ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, and immigration law standards
- Develop and implement firm-wide policies and procedures to promote ethical conduct and compliance with legal and professional standards, including conflict-check procedures, confidentiality protocols, and client intake processes
- Identify potential ethical risks and vulnerabilities within the firm's operations and client matters, and develop strategies to mitigate and manage those risks effectively
- Provide guidance and advice to clients on ethical considerations related to their legal matters, including informed consent, confidentiality, and the duty of zealous representation
- Monitor compliance with ethical standards and firm policies through regular audits, reviews, and assessments of attorney and staff conduct and client files
- Advocate for ethical principles and professional standards within the firm and interactions with clients, opposing counsel, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders
Pay Range: $90k- $120k USD
Qualifications:
- Must have a Juris Doctor degree
- Strong understanding of legal ethics, professional responsibility, and regulatory requirements governing the practice of law
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity in all aspects of legal practice
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
