Job Overview

The United Firm | La Liga Defensora, APC is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead our technology strategy and drive digital transformation across the organization. The CTO will oversee the development, implementation, and optimization of advanced software, CRM systems, and AI-driven solutions to support financials, sales, clerical, administrative, and legal operations. This role requires a strategic leader with deep expertise in legal tech, AI integration, and team-building to ensure United Firm remains at the forefront of technological innovation in the legal industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technology Strategy & Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive technology roadmap that aligns with United Firm’s business objectives, integrating the latest software, CRM platforms, and AI technologies to enhance operational efficiency and client outcomes.
  • AI & Automation Integration: Spearhead the adoption of AI bots, AI agents, and generative AI tools across all departments, ensuring seamless integration into financial, sales, clerical, administrative, and legal workflows to maximize productivity and innovation.
  • Software & CRM Oversight: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry-leading software and CRM systems (e.g., Clio, Salesforce, NetSuite) tailored to legal and business operations, overseeing their implementation, customization, and continuous improvement.
  • Team Building & Vendor Management: Recruit, hire, and manage a high-performing team of engineers, dashboard creators, and IT professionals. Identify and onboard top-tier vendors to streamline technology solutions and support department-specific needs. 
  • Technology Audits: Conduct regular audits of all departments to ensure optimal use of firm-wide and department-specific tools, identifying gaps and implementing solutions to enhance performance and compliance.
  • Cybersecurity & Data Privacy: Oversee the development and enforcement of robust cybersecurity protocols and data privacy measures to protect sensitive client and firm data, ensuring compliance with regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA where applicable.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with department heads (e.g., Finance, Sales, Legal Operations) to align technology solutions with their strategic goals, fostering a culture of innovation and data-driven decision-making.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage the technology budget, optimizing resource allocation to balance innovation with cost efficiency.
  • Thought Leadership: Stay ahead of emerging trends in legal tech, AI, and automation, representing United Firm at industry conferences and contributing to thought leadership initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership, with at least 5 years in a senior role (e.g., CTO, VP of Technology) overseeing enterprise-wide technology initiatives.
    • Proven experience in the legal industry or a professional services environment, with deep knowledge of legal tech solutions (e.g., case management, e-discovery, billing software).
    • Demonstrated success in implementing AI, automation, and CRM systems to drive business outcomes.
    • Experience hiring and managing technical teams, including engineers, data scientists, and vendor partners.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in modern CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Clio) and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP).
    • Strong understanding of AI technologies, including generative AI, AI agents, and machine learning applications in business contexts.
    • Proficiency in cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cybersecurity frameworks.
    • Familiarity with dashboard creation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data analytics platforms.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strategic thinker with a track record of driving innovation and change management in large organizations.
    • Collaborative team player with a client-centric mindset and a passion for mentoring talent.
  • Availability: Willingness to travel occasionally to United Firm’s nationwide offices for on-site collaboration and audits.
  • Location: Remote candidates from anywhere in the USA are welcome; Los Angeles-based candidates may have opportunities for hybrid work at our headquarters.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with legal-specific AI tools (e.g., Kira, Luminance) or e-discovery platforms (e.g., Relativity, Logikcull).
  • Background in managing technology transformations for organizations with 1,000+ employees.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, PMP, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Experience redesigning and implementing streamlined financial operations

Compensation for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skill set, and overall qualifications.
