The Welder will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and equipment using welders, cutters and other metal fabrication equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with welding processes, a deep understanding of safety protocols, and the ability to read blueprints and schematics to ensure projects are completed accurately and efficiently.

** This is a full time onsite position located in North Phoenix, AZ (85027).**
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Use MIG, TIG, stick, and other welding techniques to join, fabricate, and repair metal components according to project specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine appropriate welding techniques.
- Cut and align metal materials before welding, ensuring proper fit and finish.
- Fabricate and weld structural components, pipes, beams, and other items as needed, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
- Inspect welded joints and components to ensure that they meet company and industry standards, making any necessary adjustments to prevent defects.
- Set up and operate welding machines, hand tools, and power tools required to complete jobs.
- Adhere to company safety policies, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following proper handling techniques for hazardous materials.
- Conduct routine maintenance on welding equipment and perform repairs on metal structures as needed.
- Work alongside engineers, fabricators, and other team members to meet project deadlines and ensure work quality.
- Monitor welding processes to avoid overheating, warping, shrinking, or other welding defects, ensuring the final product meets quality standards.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

- High School diploma/GED.
- Completion of a technical school welding program, required.
- Ability to attend and pass a third-party welding test (PNL - Phoenix National Laboratories).
- 2-5+ years of welding experience in construction or manufacturing environment.
- Relevant welding certifications, preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
-
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, arc, and stick welding.
- Experience with fabrication tools, including grinders, drills, and saws.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities depending on project needs. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and employees.
- Ability to develop and maintain successful relationships with all levels of employees, clients, and subcontractors.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude.
- Ability to work in a construction site environment (trailer office)
Language Proficiency:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin, preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license. May be required to travel to other sites within Arizona to perform certain work functions.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs for transporting documents, equipment, and other materials as needed. The role involves extended periods of sitting while working at a computer, as well as standing and walking. Frequent movement between the construction trailer and various areas of the construction site is necessary.
The position is based at the construction job site (trailer office). Even though the exposure of hazardous work conditions would be minimal, the employee may be required to visit the work area of the jobsite and thus be exposed to some typical work hazards that may be present on a construction site, such as dust, moving machineries, weather, caustic chemicals, noise etc. UIS would provide the required safety protection to ensure the safety of UIS employees and comply with all OSHA standards.
