Interior System Structure Engineer

United Integrated Services (USA) Corp. was founded in Phoenix, Arizona in 2020. UIS is a U.S. subsidiary of United Integrated Services Co., Ltd. (UIS Taiwan) which was founded in Taiwan in 1982. UIS is a multidisciplinary engineering and construction company. We provide fully integrated design-build services to our clients in the high-technology industry for their manufacturing facility needs. Our scope of services includes engineering design, high-tech factory planning, and on-time equipment and material delivery in which clean-room systems, HVAC, electrical systems, and tool hook-up, are all vital parts in need of total coordination.

 

Summary: As an Interior System Structural Engineer at UIS, you will play a critical role in the design, coordination, and field implementation of cleanroom interior structural systems for cutting-edge semiconductor fabrication facilities. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that structural supports, ceiling systems, utility racks, and related interior assemblies meet the highest cleanroom and engineering standards. This is a hands-on role requiring proactive engagement in both design review and field execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Review client specifications, cleanroom protocols (ISO 14644, SEMI S2/S8), and UIS design standards.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet project cost, schedule, and quality targets.
  • Interpret and review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings including 2D layouts, 3D models, GA drawings, and isometrics.
  • Oversee structural design and installation of walkable ceilings, utility racks, raised access flooring, partitions, and vibration-sensitive equipment supports.
  • Review and approve fabrication drawings and structural calculations for cleanroom components.
  • Support field teams with installation coordination, sequencing, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct field walkdowns to verify design implementation, construction quality, and cleanroom compatibility.
  • Collaborate with HVAC, process, and tool install teams to ensure structural systems support all critical infrastructure.
  • Coordinate resolution of RFIs, CRs, and change orders from engineering and construction perspectives.
  • Manage interface with subcontractors and vendors to ensure materials meet cleanroom and structural specifications.
  • Track construction progress, provide detailed field reports, and contribute to safety and quality meetings.
  • Participate in turnover documentation and support client acceptance processes.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.         

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in cleanroom, semiconductor, or high-tech facility construction.
  • Experience with EPC/EPCM project structures preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of cleanroom structural systems, including vibration-sensitive support design.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom classifications, airflow management, and integration of process equipment.
  • Experience with chilled water, PCW, CDA, exhaust ducts, and high-purity gas system support.
  • Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, and Bluebeam.
  • Effective communicator with strong time management, documentation, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve field issues quickly and effectively while ensuring compliance.
  • Familiar with international codes and standards related to structural design and cleanroom systems.
  • Able to operate in a fast-paced, schedule-driven construction environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful relationships with all levels of employees, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude.
  • Ability to work in a construction site environment (trailer office).

Language Proficiency:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin, preferred.

 

Nice to have:

  • Start-up experience.
  • Verbal communication skills in Mandarin.
  • Professional Engineer’s License

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license. May be required to travel to other sites within Arizona to perform certain work functions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs for transporting documents, equipment, and other materials as needed. The role involves extended periods of sitting while working at a computer, as well as standing and walking. Frequent movement between the construction trailer and various areas of the construction site is necessary.

The position is based at the construction job site (trailer office).  Even though the exposure of hazardous work conditions would be minimal, the employee may be required to visit the work area of the jobsite and thus be exposed to some typical work hazards that may be present on a construction site, such as dust, moving machineries, weather, caustic chemicals, noise etc. UIS would provide the required safety protection to ensure the safety of UIS employees and comply with all OSHA standards.
