The UnitedMasters team is made up of musicians, marketers, engineers, and storytellers with backgrounds from YouTube, SoundCloud, Pandora, Facebook, Uber, Dropbox, Complex, VICE, and more. We work hand in hand with the award-winning creative teams that forge those innovative partnerships at Translation, (our in-house creative advertising agency).
We are looking for a Director of Commerce to join UnitedMasters! This is a hybrid role with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote.
What You'll Do
- Manage the commerce function within the Label Services offering, acting as a central resource for all commerce-related needs and opportunities.
- Own and drive commerce strategy to maximize streaming revenue, audience engagement, and DSP visibility for Label Services clients.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key DSP partners, overseeing account relationships, securing editorial placements, playlisting, and marketing opportunities.
- Collaborate directly with labels to refine and execute streaming marketing plans, ensuring strong performance and visibility across DSPs.
- Support labels in building and strengthening their relationships with streaming platforms, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution as needed.
- Develop and implement streaming strategies that align with label rollout plans and marketing strategies, ensuring the commercial success of their frontline releases as well as their catalog.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments across streaming services, and provide strategic insights to labels to enhance their digital presence.
- Represent UnitedMasters' Commerce department in client meetings, acting as the key team member for label clients, and helping resolve any commerce related issues.
- Work closely with the Head of Commerce and Director of Label Services to support the growth and needs of the Commerce offering to label clients, while aligning with overall business objectives.
- Collaborate with the Director of Commerce, Artist Services across strategy and needs for our current and expanding roster of Partner Artists, as well working closely on Commerce department needs and growth.
- Co-manage the team coordinator with the Director of Commerce, Artist Services.
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams (marketing, artist relations, product, and more) to align commerce strategies with broader company goals, specifically supporting the Commerce and Label Services divisions and their growth.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Deep expertise in the music streaming ecosystem, with a strong understanding of commerce strategies and DSP best practices.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with key DSPs, ensuring effective communication and securing editorial, playlisting, and marketing opportunities.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret streaming data and apply insights to improve label commerce strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
- Creative problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to think strategically about streaming and digital marketing initiatives from both a label and artist perspective.
- Proven track record in ideating, implementing and executing commercial marketing strategies and campaigns.
- Experience with educating labels and artists on best practices and streaming strategies to set them up for long term success and growth.
Minimum Qualifications
- 6-8 years of experience in Commerce, Streaming, Digital Sales, Partner Relations, and/or Digital Account Management at a music distribution company or record label, with a focus on supporting independent record labels.
- Established senior-level relationships with DSPs and a track record of securing editorial, playlisting, and marketing opportunities for labels.
- Demonstrated success in driving streaming revenue growth and visibility for label clients through effective commerce activations and partnerships.
- Track record of overseeing partnerships with major streaming services.

Salary Hiring Range: $100,000 - $130,000
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide (e.g. bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, etc.)
Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors.
The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.
The salary range above is for the NY/CA. As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired in another location.
