Data Strategy Intern - The 2026 Come Up Internship Program

Brooklyn, New York

Who We Are

Translation is a well-established independent agency and thriving music business, built to help ambitious brands harness the power of culture to solve their biggest challenges. As a unique mix of experts in culture, technology, and storytelling, we are united by a passion to grow brands in ways that advertising alone can never do.

We are an entrepreneurial business – not a traditional “ad agency.” That means we value resourcefulness and tenacity just as much as we value creativity and intelligence. We’re unapologetically ambitious, but we’re also a tight-knit crew.

You should apply for the Data Strategy internship if…

You’re always asking, “why?” You push past what data merely says and are deeply intrigued to unpack what it is telling us. You are a beneath-the-surface level thinker who is curious about how data, culture, and creativity intersect, and excited by the idea of using data to shape ideas, not just report on performance. You enjoy digging into social, audience, and behavioral data, spotting patterns, and turning messy inputs into clear insights that inform strategy and creative work. You’re detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn how data can influence everything from campaign planning to cultural storytelling to business growth.

What You'll Do

  • Support social listening, audience research, and performance analysis to uncover cultural and consumer insights
  • Help build and QA dashboards, trackers, and simple data models across platforms (social, web, brand lift, etc.)
  • Analyze campaign performance and translate findings into clear, visual, and compelling narratives
  • Assist in developing insight frameworks, audience segments, and measurement approaches for brand and culture projects
  • Partner with strategists and creatives to bring data into early-stage thinking, not just reporting

Come Up Internship

As an intern at UMT, you are an integrated member of the team. You’ll spend 10 weeks gaining the kind of "hands-on" experience that actually moves the needle.

Real Work, Real Impact: You’ll be embedded in client and internal projects. You won't just watch—you'll contribute to deliverables that go out the door.

Master the Industry Stack: We’ll get you under the hood of the professional tools, software, and platforms used by the best in the business, ensuring you leave with a market-ready skill set.

Curated Professional Development: Beyond daily tasks, you’ll participate in "The Come Up" workshops designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry execution.

Direct Access & Mentorship: You aren't just a face in the crowd. You’ll receive 1:1 mentorship from seasoned pros and have roundtables from Intern Alumni and UMT executives to learn how the business scales.

Network for the Future: Build lasting professional bonds with a cohort of high-performing peers and industry leaders in the heart of Brooklyn.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a rising senior or recent college graduate
  • This internship is based out of our Brooklyn, NY office, required to be in-person Monday through Thursday
  • Must to be able to attend the internship from June 2nd through August 7th

Not sure where you fit? You contain multitudes.
We’re looking for "multi-hyphenate" talent—the strategist who codes, or the creative who loves data. If your skill set doesn't fit into just one box, don't worry. Explore our range of disciplines and find where your unique DNA matches our needs. Feel free to apply for up to two different internship roles that align with your career goals - we want to see where you shine brightest.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.

How do you know if you have a disability?
