About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Partnerships to lead our third party partnerships in Japan. This role requires a strong background in working with Japanese commercial partners and experience launching a new business into the Japanese market. This position will be reporting directly to our Country Director in Japan. 

You are responsible for setting the commercial partnership strategy for our Japanese market and building and managing the relationships with our third party partners. We are looking for someone who can help accelerate and strengthen our market entry into Japan by building a network of commercial partners that unlock market credibility, consumer reach and store network. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough market research and market mapping of potential commercial partners  to maximise revenue for our marketplace business and drive market recognition for our brand.
  • Identify creative/innovative opportunities to drive discovery for the Too Good To Go marketplace product in the Japanese market through commercial partnerships
  • Establish a clear strategy and tactics to realise your objectives and plans aligned with local and global leadership.
  • Demonstrate a strong operational and execution mindset, negotiate contract agreements with our commercial partners and manage the full execution of our partnership agreements. 
  • Continuous networking and building relationships with our partners and potential partners at formal and informal industry events

Requirements - must to have

  • Solid experience in Partnerships or business development in relevant industries such as technology, food service, grocery retail, etc. with proven history of establishing successful partnerships for consumer businesses
  • Strong network of key decision-makers within the Japanese market
  • Problem-solving attitude to overcome obstacles that could arise during negotiations
  • Skills in strategic planning, business partnering, presentation, business modelling, and data analysis
  • Experience building strategies in Japan and experience with the complexities and diversity of the market 
  • Start up mentality, with the ability to get jobs done with limited guidance 
  • Strong negotiation and deal-closing skills
  • Experience working in a global matrix organisation
  • Business fluency in both Japanese and English 
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills
