About the role

As the Head of Data you’ll shape the way we approach data at Unlock Technologies. You will create a strategic vision for how data can help drive our business growth. You will build and manage a high-performance, data, platform, and analytics team and leverage your experience and communication skills to work across business teams to develop innovative data solutions. You will inspire and mentor a strong data team through your passion for data and its ability to transform decision-making and generate solutions for this new, exciting asset class. Communicating your insights and driving new product development across the organization is paramount to success. You will also be looked upon to share Unlocks data vision and products externally.

What you'll do

  • Lead team responsible for scaling our data infrastructure and complex analysis capabilities 
  • Define and manage a roadmap for data engineering, data science, and data insight  
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate self-service analysis into business management 
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of the company’s data platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security 
  • Drive the development of advanced analytics, reporting solutions, and dashboards to provide actionable insights to stakeholders 
  • Oversee design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data science processes, models, and products or applications 
  • Stay abreast of new technologies, data sources, and methodologies that could enrich Unlock’s data platform
  • Implement best practices for data modeling, architecture, and integration across various data sources 
  • Own governance around data integrity, business metric definition, and continuous improvement of the reporting/data infrastructure

What we're looking for

  • 8 year’s experience in data engineering, including developing custom data pipelines, modeling, and analytics/BI engineering 
  • Experience deploying data science (also called “big data,” artificial intelligence, or machine learning) into business applications 
  • Experience maintaining and developing business intelligence or reporting suites 
  • Strong knowledge of traditional and modern data tools and technologies, including SQL, Python, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and big data frameworks 
  • Strong understanding of data governance, compliance, and security best practices 
  • Experience with one or more massively parallel processing data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, Bigquery, etc) 
  • Experience with one or more data pipelining and orchestration tools (Fivetran, Airflow, AWS Glue, Informatica, Pentaho, SSIS, Alooma, etc) 
  • Experience with one or more cloud-based business intelligence platforms (Sigma, Mode, Tableau, Looker, Metabase, etc) 
  • Experience with dbt/git or other version-controlled modeling/transformation solution  
  • 5+ years experience working cross-functionally 
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Professional experience in residential real estate or mortgage preferred

Target base compensation is $180,000 annually. Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location. Additionally, Unlock's Total Rewards package is highly competitive, designed to support your success at work, at home, and at play – such as 401K matching, health benefits, employee stock options and paid time off.
