The Role
The Senior SEO Strategist is responsible for weaving together technical, off-page, and on-page search engine optimization tactics into a successful strategy. This Strategist works in close collaboration with other Production teams, Account Managers, Account Analysts, and of course their assigned clients. You’re at the point in your career when you do more than simply execute as you’re told. You’ve been starting to get a stronger grasp on building a comprehensive SEO strategy and articulating how your SEO strategy ties together with your client’s business objectives, although you recognize you’re still a work in progress. You aren’t quite comfortable handling difficult clients solo, but you’re open to challenges and eager to learn as you step into a more consultative partnership with your clients.
As a Senior SEO Strategist, you will be assigned a roster of clients for whom you’ll assist in driving SEO strategy, tactics, and overall success. You will be part of the day-to-day assembly, execution, and maintenance of SEO strategies, including keyword research, auditing, portfolio management, and opportunity analysis. Part of your workload includes facilitating the execution of multi-location and custom SEO campaigns. You will be expected to carry out your project plan (or collaborate with other teams as appropriate), ask the questions needed to keep the work moving, speak with clients as needed, and pivot based on data outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze site data, determine next steps for each client’s SEO work, plan & execute tasks in collaboration with other teams, and communicate updates about progress
- Perform ongoing keyword research including the discovery and expansion of keyword opportunities
- Research and implement content recommendations for organic SEO & UX success
- Execute tests, collect and analyze data and results, identify trends and insights
- Develop and implement link building strategy
- Work with the development team to ensure SEO best practices are properly implemented on newly developed code
- Regularly meet with clients to present work completed & results, account for strategy, answer questions, and tactfully speak to the next batch of scheduled work
- Stay ahead of Google algorithm updates and industry news, supporting the SEO team’s overall stance as a strategic & consultative partner for all clients
- Assist with quality assurance efforts on all website projects
Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent
- 4-6+ years of relevant work experience in SEO agencies
- Executing SEO tasks for on-page, off-page, and technical
- Strategizing de novo in at least one direction: on-page, off-page, and technical
- Analyzing data and reporting to clients in a regular cadence
- Fielding client questions directly
- Familiarity with A/B testing, heat mapping, and UX principles
- Strong understanding of SEO tools like SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console/Google Analytics, etc.
- Knowledge of WordPress or other content management systems, familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Strong attention to detail and proven ability to execute against plans. Ability to manage multiple projects based on priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working remotely, and a preference for it
- Must be based in the U.S
