Senior Director, Digital Programs

The Role

The Senior Digital Program Director for Strategic Accounts is a critical Performance Marketing role responsible for leading a team of Campaign Managers overseeing paid search, paid social, programmatic media, and analytics for large, complex, ROI-focused healthcare accounts. This role provides strategic leadership and counsel, collaborates closely with Client Experience and Sales leaders to drive results for key accounts, and plays an active role in strategic new business pitches.

The ideal candidate brings a highly sophisticated performance media strategy background (healthcare experience preferred, but not required), proven experience leading senior individual contributors, and comfort participating in in-person new business pitches. They are equally adept at leading high-level strategy conversations with senior client stakeholders (VP+) and translating strategy into actionable recommendations around targeting and channel execution.

This role owns the growth and success of Strategic Accounts by building trusted client relationships, ensuring goals are met, and identifying opportunities to expand impact. As a subject matter expert in advanced digital media and analytics strategy, the Digital Program Director helps shape account strategy, scope new requests, and ensure work is structured for effective execution while driving scalability and efficiency across the account portfolio.


Responsibilities

Client Management

  • Direct and manage team to deliver against client KPIs using available resources; make appropriate internal resource requests to ensure client goals are met.
  • Proactively identify opportunities, strategies, and testing opportunities to exceed client KPIs and expectations.
  • Serve as the escalation resource with regard to recommendations, campaign optimizations, issues, and client questions where the Pod requires assistance and coaching.
  • Diagnose, triage, and solve campaign and account issues, both internally and externally; communicate any known risks internally to executive team.
  • Review and manage budgets in the proprietary Unlock Media Control Platform for accounts assigned to respective Pod to ensure accuracy and delivery.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to prioritize account work, identifying opportunities for growth (e.g., increased budget, recommendations for renewal or expansion) and to plan for incoming additional client campaigns.

Team Management

  • Hold weekly Pod meetings to review deliverables, address roadblocks, and optimize time allocation to meet client objectives.
  • Lead and mentor your Pod through organizational and process-related changes, ensuring smooth transitions and team alignment.
  • Conduct weekly 1:1s with direct reports to provide coaching, monitor performance, and address individual needs.
  • Manage timesheet approvals and assignment distribution through Adobe Workfront to ensure efficient operations and balanced workloads for Pod members.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews for direct reports to assess performance, provide actionable feedback, and support professional growth.
  • Identify and mentor high-potential candidates for future Director roles by providing training, leadership opportunities, and ongoing feedback.
  • Communicate regularly with the Senior Director and VP of Performance Marketing on team issues with regard to performance and education/training needs.

Other

  • Communicate regularly with the Digital Media Strategy Team to ensure alignment on recommendations, advancing internal thought leadership, and evolving processes.
  • Provide regular feedback to senior management on opportunities to grow and evolve digital media offerings for more sophisticated clients.
  • Participate in occasional thought leadership or conference/event attendance as relevant.
  • Uphold company culture, values and a positive, collaborative environment.

Ideal Qualifications

  • 6-8 years’ experience developing, launching, and optimizing paid search, paid social, and programmatic media campaigns, with direct accountability for performance against defined KPIs.
  • Proven ability to manage and coach team members through live campaigns, including reviewing recommendations, guiding optimizations, and resolving performance or delivery issues in real time.
  • Experience overseeing large, complex media budgets, including forecasting, pacing, and optimization using proprietary or enterprise-level media management platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of campaign targeting methodologies, measurement frameworks, and analytics, with the ability to translate data into clear recommendations for clients and internal teams.
  • Track record of diagnosing campaign, account, or operational challenges, escalating risks appropriately, and implementing corrective actions across teams.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Client Experience, Sales, and Strategy teams to scope new work, support renewals or expansions, and contribute performance expertise to new business pitches.
