Accounting Manager (m/f/d)

Berlin

Founded in 2020, unybrands is the next-generation brand accelerator platform built to acquire, integrate, and scale digital-first consumer brands. Headquartered in Miami, with offices in New York, London, Berlin, and Shenzhen, our 240+ team brings deep expertise across e-commerce, brand management, consumer retail, operational scaling, and M&A.

Since inception, we have acquired 30+ brands across Pet Care, Personal Care, Home Care, Supplements, Baby & Juvenile, Garden & Outdoor, Sports & Fitness, and Home & Lifestyle — completing 20+ acquisitions and delivering 16 consecutive quarters of like-for-like organic growth post-integration.

Our competitive advantage lies in a fully integrated operating system purpose-built to transform digital brands into omni-channel category leaders. Powered by a proprietary technology stack built on NetSuite ERP with 200+ data integrations, our platform enables brands to thrive across marketplaces, direct-to-consumer channels, and brick-and-mortar retail.

We focus on acquiring digital-first brands within carefully selected verticals, then applying tailored value creation playbooks that drive growth through innovation, expansion, and automation. We believe the next generation of consumer brands will be built differently — and we're building the AI-enabled retail tech platform to help them consolidate and win.

About the role

As Accounting Manager, you will lead our GL/AR/Inventory team and coordinate the monthly close across our legal entities under IFRS and in NetSuite for a multi-entity organization.

Alongside the close, you will own actuals-based controlling and recurrent process improvements. You will also contribute to cross-functional projects across finance and the wider
business. You will report to the Sr. Director of Global Accounting and Finance Operations and lead a small team of accountants.

Main responsibilities
• Own the month-end and year-end close end to end across all entities, including the close calendar in Jira, checklist and sign-off, coordinating deadlines and handovers across time
zones.
• Lead, coach and review the work of the GL team, including allocating tasks, managing capacity and developing skills.
• Review and approve journal entries.
• Ensure timely balance sheet reconciliations, with documented review and sign-off.
• Coordinate intercompany reconciliation and matching across entities, ensuring balances are fully matched and eliminated ahead of consolidation.
• Prepare the monthly group consolidation under IFRS, including intercompany and equity eliminations in NetSuite.
• Operate and strengthen close controls and maintain SOPs and close documentation.
• Report close status, open issues and close KPIs to stakeholders.
• Coordinate external and tax audits end to end: act as the first point of contact for auditors, own the PBC (prepared-by-client) list and deliverables, manage auditor requests and deadlines across entities, and track findings through to resolution.
• Maintain year-round audit readiness: ensure reconciliations, journal support and close documentation meet audit standards, and align the audit timetable with the close
calendar.
• Own/review monthly MoM variance analysis by entity and brand with clear commentary on the drivers.
• Ensure integrity of management-accounting dimensions in NetSuite.
• Build and maintain recurring reports, with a focus on automation.
• Identify and implement improvements that shorten the close and reduce manual effort.
• Contribute to NetSuite enhancements and finance systems projects.
• Support documentation of accounting policies and controls.

What you will bring
We know great candidates don’t always tick every box. If this role excites you but your experience doesn’t match every point below, we’d still love to hear from you.
• Around 5 or more years of experience in accounting and/or controlling, ideally in e-commerce or consumer goods. Inventory reconciliation experience is a big plus.
• A degree in accounting, finance or a related field, or equivalent vocational training and experience. Professional qualifications are a plus.
• Experience coordinating a multi-entity, multi-currency month-end close.
• Solid IFRS knowledge.
• Hands-on management accounting experience.
• Experience leading or mentoring people, and the ability to lead in a distributed, cross-time-zone team.
• NetSuite experience is a strong plus. Confident Excel skills are important, and experience using AI tools (e.g. Claude) is a big plus.
• An analytical, detail-oriented and pragmatic approach to improving processes.
• Fluent English (our company language). German is a plus.

How we work
This is a hybrid role based in Berlin. You will combine 2 set days in our Berlin office, working face to face with the team, with regular remote working. We are open to discussing flexible
working arrangements that fit your life. You will work with colleagues across Europe, the US and Asia, so some flexibility around time zones is part of the role, and we plan meetings to be fair across locations.
