Sales Development Representative

As the Outbound Sales Development representative, you will lead the development of new business and represent Upbound as the first touch of the sales cycle. You’ll have the opportunity to help grow sales and marketing operations from the ground up and act as the critical bridge between the sales and marketing lead lifecycles. This person will be working directly with our Crossplane community and has the opportunity to evangelize high-impact solutions to an engaged and eager open-source user base. This person reports directly to the Head of Marketing and works closely with both sales and marketing functions. 

In this role you will: 

  • Conduct outreach to community qualified leads and community-engaged accounts, finding creative ways to engage with the Crossplane community and find creative solutions to help businesses scale. 
  • Conduct research and outreach to high-intent, marketing qualified accounts. This often requires leveraging existing marketing data to research and identify the right personas at some of the world’s largest companies, 
  • Conduct outreach with community members and target accounts in order to generate new sales opportunities. 
  • Find new business. Conduct research into companies in specific market segments/verticals, identify key target personas and generate SQLs
  • Make outbound calls, emails and LinkedIn messages to qualify potential clients.
  • Have meaningful conversations with prospects to understand the challenges they face.
  • Assist sales and marketing operations, process events-related coordination

You are a good fit for this role if you have:

  • 1-2 years of experience as an SDR, demand generation specialist or related field 
  • (Required) experience in at least one or both of the following: 
    • DevOps, GitOps, cloud native or similar industry 
    • Selling to an open source community 
  • A high level of comfort in a technical space. Open source and/or infrastructure experience is preferred. 
  • Enjoy building relationships, networking and creating new connections. 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills. 
  • Experience with marketing and sales tech such as Hubspot, Salesforce, Marketo, Zoominfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator and other tools 
  • Thrived in a small team and made a big impact.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or commensurate experience in a sales related field of work

It is a plus if: 

  • You’re familiar with Crossplane 
  • You’re familiar with CNCF open source projects 
  • You’ve worked at a Series A, B or C startup
