About the Role

Updater is seeking a strategic, highly creative, and execution-oriented Senior Marketing Designer to help define how our products, platform, and brand are understood in the market.

As Updater expands its suite of products that power internet, TV, phone, home security, moving services, and other services consumers rely on during major life moments, we face a unique challenge: many of these products operate behind the scenes and lack traditional user interfaces or visual experiences. This role will be responsible for bringing those products to life through compelling visual storytelling, conceptual design, and scalable brand experiences.

This is a part-time contract position ideal for an experienced designer who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving complex communication challenges, and wants to make a meaningful impact with flexibility and autonomy. You'll work closely with Marketing, Product Marketing, Product, Sales, and Leadership to shape some of Updater's most visible and strategic initiatives.

This is not a production design role. We are looking for a strategic B2B designer who can simplify complex concepts, create compelling marketing experiences, and help evolve Updater's brand as we continue our transformation into an enterprise platform.

Contract Details

  • Part-time contract engagement (approximately 20 hours per week)
  • Initial 6-month engagement with the potential for extension based on business needs and performance
  • Fully remote
  • Flexible working hours with reasonable overlap with U.S. business hours
  • Compensation: $95-$105 per hour, based on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Elevate the visual expression of the Updater brand across marketing, product marketing, sales enablement, communications, and corporate initiatives
  • Translate complex products, services, and technical concepts into clear, compelling visual stories that help prospects quickly understand what we do and why it matters
  • Design and support key go-to-market assets, including product launches, landing pages, sales collateral, presentations, campaign creative, and event materials
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Product Marketing, Sales, and Leadership to communicate ideas in a way that is engaging, intuitive, and visually compelling
  • Create high-impact sales presentations, investor materials, executive communications, and customer-facing content
  • Develop diagrams, frameworks, illustrations, and other visual assets that simplify complex concepts and support product storytelling
  • Establish scalable design systems, templates, and standards that enable teams to move quickly while maintaining brand consistency and quality
  • Manage multiple projects independently and help define direction when goals or requirements are evolving

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in B2B marketing design, brand design, product marketing design, or related creative disciplines
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating both exceptional visual design skills and strategic thinking
  • Experience marketing software, technical offerings, platforms, APIs, marketplaces, or other infrastructure products
  • Exceptional storytelling, presentation, and visual communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, web design, conversion-focused creative, and modern design best practices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfort working independently and collaborating cross-functionally with stakeholders across multiple functions
  • Experience working effectively in a remote-first environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience marketing SaaS, enterprise software, developer tools, infrastructure products, marketplaces, or platform businesses
  • Experience creating product illustrations, conceptual visuals, system diagrams, or other abstract visual frameworks
  • Experience with motion graphics, animation, or video production
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Experience partnering closely with Product Marketing teams
  • Previous experience as a design lead, senior agency designer, independent consultant, or senior in-house designer

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
