About the Role:
At Upgrade, the Platform team works horizontally with our different engineering teams. We build tools, services and shared libraries to simplify / abstract / speedup the day to day of our developers.
Part of the Platform group, the Identity and Access Management team is responsible for our auth service, and everything related to Authentication and Authorization in our microservice architecture.
We are looking for a passionate Java Developer to help us drive the IAM roadmap at Upgrade. Join us!
What You'll Do:
- Help build and drive the roadmap for the IAM team.
- Implement new IAM related features: Both as a platform developer and for customer facing products.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert on Authentication and Authorization.
What You Need (Please apply if you only have a few in there!):
- Advanced Java programming knowledge (Golang a plus).
- Comfortable with security best practices and understanding of security related standards: OAuth, OIDC, JWT.
- You worked in a microservice environment before.
- You worked on IAM teams before.
- You are aware of the challenges and possible patterns brought up by Kubernetes.
- Good communication & empathy skills. You will interact with different stakeholders at Upgrade to help define our vision.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

The compensation range of this position in Canada is $150,000 - $250,000 CAD annually plus equity and benefits. Within this range, an individual's base pay will be dependent on a variety of factors, including without limitation, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
