About the Role
UPSTACK is seeking a strategic, creative, and independent Content Strategist to lead the development of compelling, high-impact content that fuels brand awareness and pipeline revenue growth.
This contract role is perfect for someone who brings a consultant-like mindset—someone who thrives with ownership, brings deep expertise, and is excited to build and execute a content roadmap from the ground up. You’ll shape our content engine, leverage AI tools to scale ideas, and bring storytelling depth to every asset you touch.
As a content leader, you’ll be responsible for creating purposeful content aligned to the customer journey, collaborating across teams, and optimizing our voice across blogs, video, podcasts, whitepapers, email campaigns, and more.
What You'll Do
Content Strategy & Ownership
- Build and own the content strategy aligned with demand generation goals, sales enablement needs, and audience insights
- Develop and manage a content roadmap spanning blogs, whitepapers, emails, videos, infographics, and podcasts
- Champion an authentic brand voice while leveraging AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Jasper, Copilot) to accelerate ideation and execution
- Ensure consistent editorial excellence through strong copy editing and alignment with UPSTACK’s tone and messaging
Content Creation & Optimization
- Write, edit, and publish engaging content tailored to the IT buyer journey (TOFU, MOFU, BOFU)
- Translate complex technical topics into accessible, engaging content for business and technical audiences
- Apply SEO and AI-driven best practices to increase organic traffic and optimize for evolving search behavior
- Interview subject matter experts and stakeholders to bring depth and originality to our content
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with demand generation customer success and sales to support campaign strategy and pipeline growth
- Align content with integrated campaign timelines and sales enablement goals
- Collaborate with design team to bring visual and multimedia content to life
Performance Measurement
- Track content performance using tools like Google Analytics, SEO platforms, and marketing automation insights
- Use data to refine strategy, inform future content decisions, and report on effectiveness to stakeholders
- Test new content formats and distribution channels to expand audience reach and engagement
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in B2B content strategy, editorial, or marketing communications roles—ideally in the IT or technology sector
- A portfolio of work that demonstrates storytelling range, strategic insight, and content designed to drive business results
- Experience developing and executing content strategies across channels and buyer stages
- Fluency with generative AI tools to support and streamline the creative process
- Advanced writing and editing skills, with a strong eye for clarity, tone, and voice
- Proficiency in SEO, content performance analytics, and collaboration tools
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to operate independently, collaborate effectively and produce efficiently

Additional Info
- This is a long-term remote contractor role, estimated at approximately 15-30 hours per week to start.
- We're looking for a reliable, proactive, and creative partner—someone who can hit the ground running and adapt as our needs evolve.

Interview Process
- 30-minute phone screen to discuss your background, experience, and interest in the role
- 1-hour panel and portfolio review with two members of the hiring team to walk through relevant work and discuss your creative approach
- Reference check with a previous client or stakeholder familiar with your work
