The Opportunity

We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to advance our dynamic engineering organization. In this pivotal role, you will lead and unify our technical efforts, offering strategic guidance and architectural oversight across various teams. Your leadership will be crucial in setting and maintaining the highest standards of quality, scalability, and performance within our platform.

As a key player in our cross-functional environment, you will collaborate extensively to drive and implement critical architectural decisions that align with our overarching technical vision. Your role will be instrumental in mentoring and uplifting engineers, promoting a culture of excellence, and advocating for best practices throughout the organization. With your expertise, we aim to develop robust, scalable, and sustainable systems that enable our product teams to create outstanding user experiences.

Your responsibilities

  • Guide engineering teams in adhering to architectural frameworks and best practices. Ensure that all team efforts align with the overarching technical vision.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, including product managers, designers, and other engineering teams, to define and implement the technical strategy that aligns with our business goals.
  • Actively mentor other engineers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and excellence within the team. Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance the skills of your peers.
  • Oversee the development and refinement of system architecture. Work on cross-team projects to improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of our systems.
  • Ensure that engineering practices are up-to-date with industry standards and incorporate innovations that can drive the organization forward.
  • Promote an environment that embraces diversity, inclusion, and wellness. Contribute to initiatives that encourage a sense of belonging and support career growth within the tech organization.

What you need to succeed

  • You have at least 7 years of experience in backend development, with proficiency in Microservices and expertise in one or more of our core languages: Golang, PHP, or Python.
  • You are well-versed in Event-Driven architectures, GCP, Kubernetes, and Istio. You consistently apply best practices such as CI/CD, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and design patterns.
  • You have a proven track record of mentoring developers, leading educational sessions, and promoting a culture of knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement.
  • You excel in cross-functional teamwork and possess an agile mindset, which helps drive efficiency and innovation within the teams.
  • You align engineering activities with our company’s goals, spearhead key technical projects, and enhance our architecture and platform to support the development of advanced features.
  • You dedicate yourself to continuous personal and professional growth, encouraging your team to expand their technical knowledge and skills.
  • You leverage data as a crucial tool for making informed decisions, ensuring that our engineering solutions meet the highest standards of effectiveness and efficiency.
