The opportunity 

We are seeking an experienced leader to join our team as a Director of Accounting & Tax. This crucial role will report directly to the Group CFO and will be responsible for all group-wide accounting and tax matters. 

Your responsibilities 

Leadership:

  • Report to and spare with the Group CFO; lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and tax teams.
  • Develop the strategy for and scale the accounting & tax function. 
  • Drive team engagement and scalability through target and KPI settings.

Accounting:

  • Oversee general and sub-ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation (P&L, balance sheets, cash flows) in line with applicable accounting standards.
  • Optimize closing cycles through continuous improvement and automation of accounting processes.
  • Support DD processes and implement accounting consequences of corporate actions, including impairment tests and purchase price allocations.

Governance & Processes:

  • Ensure compliance with group accounting policies across our entities.
  • Oversee audits (incl. ESG) and ensure adherence to accounting and tax regulations.
  • Implement, maintain, and optimize internal control systems and checks.

Tax:

  • Maintain group-wide tax compliance, ensuring timely filings (direct/indirect tax).
  • Oversee fund transfer pricing, intercompany agreements, and tax audits.
  • Manage external tax consultants and support international tax compliance.

What you need to succeed 

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Economics or a related field from a top university.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in accounting & tax, ideally in a venture capital or private equity environment.
  • You have experience in a top audit firm and leadership experience in a fast-paced scale-up environment.
  • You are a certified tax advisor and/or auditor (preferred).
  • You have a strategic, hands-on mindset with a focus on innovation, automation, and compliance.
  • Ideally, you have experience with the introduction of ERP systems.
  • You excel at connecting stakeholders, storytelling, presentation, and negotiation.
  • You possess high business acumen and tech-savviness, with experience advising C-level executives and boards.
  • You are fluent in German and English.
