Industrial Engineering Intern

Urschel Laboratories, INC. is seeking an Industrial Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to work alongside our operations and manufacturing teams on projects focused on process improvement, operational efficiency, and production excellence. This internship offers hands-on experience in manufacturing operations while providing opportunities to analyze data, improve processes, and contribute to meaningful business initiatives.

Urschel designs and manufactures industrial cutting equipment for food processing and allied industries around the world from our global headquarters located in Chesterton, Indiana, U.S.A. Consumers purchase goods manufactured on Urschel cutting equipment on a daily basis. Advanced manufacturing technologies are utilized at our climate controlled, clean, and environmentally conscious facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, review, and update standardized work instructions throughout the facility
  • Support continuous improvement and process optimization projects within the operations departments
  • Assist production departments with data analysis to identify opportunities related to production quality, throughput, delays, etc.
  • Assist with statistical analysis, solution verification, and validation of improvement countermeasures
  • Complete special projects as needed and other duties assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited University, with a major in engineering discipline, preferably Industrial or Mechanical
  • Must be entering junior or senior standing with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate integrity, dependability, attention to detail, and professionalism when handling confidential information.
