SUMMARY
USA for UNHCR, a certified Great Place to Work non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, DC, is excited to announce its Early Talent Program Summer 2026. USA for UNHCR’s vision is “a world where every person forced to flee can build a better future” and its mission is to protect and support refugees by mobilizing resources, elevating awareness, and driving action through a network of engaged supporters.
The Human Resources team seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as an intern. This internship is a 10-week assignment that will provide excellent opportunities for contributing to USA for UNHCR’s mission and vision. The internship is open to undergraduate students who are in the process of completing a degree or equivalent coursework in Human Resources, Business, Management or Psychology. The intern will be expected to work with the Human Resources team and participate in various programmatic team activities. The intern must embody USA for UNHCR values: Passionate, Data Driven, Transparent, Forward Thinking, Cutting Edge, and Dynamic.
This paid internship runs from June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026. The position is hybrid, requiring in-office work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and remote work on Monday and Friday. The intern must be available for the entire 10-week duration. The internship is based at our office in NYC. Room and board are not included.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will receive guidance and training from the Human Resources team, and assist with tasks, such as:
- Support the full recruitment lifecycle by posting job openings, tracking candidates, and helping move applicants through the hiring process
- Assist with coordination and organization of interviews and recruitment-related communications
- Maintain and update recruitment systems, including Greenhouse and the Talent Acquisition SharePoint site, ensuring accuracy and a positive candidate experience
- Collaborate on special Talent Acquisition and HR projects, including developing and updating recruitment toolkits, templates, and process guides
- Support Talent Acquisition Business Partner in following recruitment Standard Operating Procedures and best practices
- Conduct research on recruitment trends, employer branding, and inclusive hiring practices
- Serve as a point of contact for fellow interns on recruitment-related questions and processes
- Learn how to handle sensitive candidate and HR information with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- 0–2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated interest in recruitment, HR, or related fields
- Curious, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to stay organized and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word; comfort learning new systems and tools (including applicant tracking systems)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and service-oriented approach
- Demonstrated enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to go the extra mile to support candidates and internal partners
- Ability to identify problems, gather and analyze information, and propose thoughtful solutions
- Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to manage competing demands and shifting priorities
- Collaborative team player who values feedback, respects diverse perspectives, and contributes positively to team culture
- Alignment with and passion for USA for UNHCR’s mission and values

$20.00 per hour
