SUMMARY 

USA for UNHCR is seeking a relationship centered and highly detail oriented Senior Associate of Events and Program Visits. This role brings valuable experience in event planning and coordinating program visits for highvalue donors and will play a critical role in supporting U4U’s Events and Program Visits team to foster and maintain strong relationships with key supporter audiences. These include major and midlevel donors, corporate, foundation, and civil society partners, community engagement supporters, and board members, with the goal of enhancing donor satisfaction, deepening engagement and driving longterm philanthropic support for refugees.  

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Events & Program Visits, the Sr. Associate will support the Senior Manager and fundraisers on planning, designing and executing creative and engaging events aimed at deepening relationships and U4U’s donors’ understanding of our mission and the impact of their support as well as coordinating program visits for high-level supporters to see the impact of their support firsthand. The successful Associate will collaboratively support the Manager to propose, plan and execute comprehensive convenings that share gratitude, provide inspiring programmatic information and increase the retention of the most generous and committed supporters of U4U. They will be the project manager on many initiatives such as events and program visits and support the Manager by providing reporting and tracking to Development leadership.    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • In collaboration with the Private Philanthropy and Global Impact Partnerships teams, support the Senior Manager in planning, executing and attending hightouch inperson and virtual donor and partner engagements — including Board and audiencecentric events (such as Women in Philanthropy and faithbased convenings), salon dinners, briefings, and virtual and inperson UNHCR program visits — while performing comprehensive event management duties to deepen donor engagement and retention. 
  • Support the Senior Manager to plan, execute, and attend as support or lead (as required) multiple bespoke high touch in-person and virtual donor and partner events, salon dinners, briefings and virtual and potentially in-person mission trips to UNHCR program sites to deepen donor engagement and commitment. This entails performing event management duties.  
  • Coordinate cross-departmentally to ensure events are executed consistently with high-touch, personalized outreach, invitations, event collateral, programming and follow-up, working collaboratively with the Manager, Audience-Centric Engagement, for editorial support, and the Multimedia Designer to design compelling, cohesive, on-brand materials.   
  • Independently manage smaller-scale, high-touch donor and partner events from concept through execution. Lead all aspects of planning and delivery, with support from the Senior Manager, while proactively coordinating with internal teams to ensure deadlines and goals are met. Serve as on-site lead as required, overseeing day of execution and management of the event.  
  • Maintain and keep do-it-yourself events kit for fundraisers including sample run-of-shows, programs, timelines, donor acknowledgements, collateral and more updated on U4U’s internal SharePoint site regularly. 
  • Assist in the creation of key materials for program visits and regularly update and refine documents, workflows, and guidelines to reflect evolving processes, team needs and feedback.  
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with U4U and UNHCR colleagues, as well as knowledge and expertise on UNHCR programs, emergencies, campaigns and areas of priority to incorporate into U4U events.  
  • Support ad hoc events-related opportunities across the organization, providing guidance and recommendations for colleagues conducting their own events, as requested. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE    

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred 
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience planning high touch donor and partner events, ideally within a nonprofit organization.  
  • Proven ability to independently plan and execute events from concept through completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high priority projects in a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail, follow through, and adaptability.
  • Commitment to providing high quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders   
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly and collaboratively across teams while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles with excellent follow-through and proactive follow-up skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms, as well as project management tools such as Jira.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, respond effectively to evolving needs, and contribute to an inclusive, growth-oriented team environment. 
  • Understanding refugee issues, humanitarian programs, and global affairs, with the ability to apply this knowledge to donor engagement and communications is a plus.

WORK LOCATION    

Hybrid + Washington, DC + May also involve travel to some locations within the company’s region of operations.   

COMPENSATION    

$78,019 - $84,295
