Production Support Associate - Hickory, NC
Overview
US Conec is seeking a detail-oriented Production Support Associate to join our team in Hickory, NC. In this role, you’ll support manufacturing and operations by preparing, assembling, polishing, inspecting, and measuring molded ferrules to ensure they meet performance and quality standards. You’ll work hands-on with fiber optic components and precision tools, helping to identify defects, analyze data, and collaborate across departments to drive continuous improvement.
Production Support roles require mandatory overtime (including every‑other‑weekend and possible 2nd‑shift hours)
Responsibilities
Fiber Optic Preparation and Testing
- Prepare fiber optic connectors, ferrules, and assemblies for inspection and testing
- Perform ferrule length and end face geometry measurements on connectors
- Conduct initial optical performance testing and share findings with the Production Support Technician
- Record and document test results using Microsoft Excel
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure all work complies with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations
- Read and follow technical drawings, layouts, and manuals for accurate assembly
Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Use cable cutting machines to cut fiber optic ribbons and cables to specified lengths
- Perform precise measurements using micrometers, interferometers, and inspection scopes
- Maintain lab tools, equipment, and workspace in a clean, safe, and organized condition
Must Haves
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in a technical field preferred
- Experience in measurement, quality control, or manufacturing environments
- Background in fiber optics or electronics industry is a plus
- Strong verbal and math skills to interpret instructions and verify part counts
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity for precision work
- Ability to lift and move up to 10 lbs regularly
