Materials Manager
Position Overview:
The Materials Manager will oversee and coordinate all activities related to materials management and procurement. This role ensures efficient and cost-effective procurement and delivery of materials to meet production schedules while maintaining high standards of quality and inventory control. The position also involves developing detailed procurement plans for raw materials and contract-manufactured components to align with business and customer demands.
Job Responsibilities:
Materials Management:

- Develop and implement strategies for efficient material procurement, inventory management, and storage.
- Oversee the ordering of materials, ensuring optimal stock levels and timely delivery to meet production demands.
- Manage the planning, forecasting, and replenishment of raw materials and components.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms.
- Monitor material quality and resolve any issues with suppliers or vendors.
- Coordinate the transportation and delivery of materials and finished goods to meet production deadlines.
- Implement and monitor inventory control measures to prevent stockouts, overstocking, or loss of materials.
Procurement of Raw Materials & Contract Manufactured Components:

- Develop detailed procurement plans for raw materials and contract-manufactured components in alignment with production schedules.
- Oversee the timely procurement of contract manufacturing services to ensure components are available as needed for assembly and production.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with third-party manufacturers and ensure compliance with agreed terms.
- Maintain relationships with contract manufacturers to ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and on-time delivery of components.
Team Leadership:

- Lead and manage a team of materials staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to company standards.
- Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance skills and increase productivity.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across departments.
Must Have's
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with technical or custom engineered products in materials management, or supply chain operations.
- Minimum of at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, inventory management, and production planning.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably SAP, Oracle, or similar.
- Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
Nice to Have's
- Experience in precision component manufacturing or a similar high-tech industry.
- Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS CPIM or CSCP).
- Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
