Overview
The Materials and Supply Chain Manager is responsible for optimizing end-to-end materials management and supply chain operations to support efficient, high-quality manufacturing. This role partners closely with procurement, production, logistics, sales, and suppliers to ensure material availability, cost control, and continuous performance improvement.
Responsibilities
• Develop and execute strategic plans to optimize materials management and supply chain performance
• Lead procurement activities, including sourcing, contract negotiation, and vendor selection to ensure cost-effective, timely material supply
• Manage inventory levels to balance demand and supply, reduce excess inventory, and prevent shortages
• Monitor and analyze supply chain KPIs, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, logistics, and sales teams to forecast demand and align material availability with production needs
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with quality standards, delivery expectations, and contractual commitments
• Implement and optimize inventory management systems and ERP tools to improve accuracy, visibility, and process efficiency
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to resolve supply chain issues, mitigate risk, and drive continuous improvement
• Establish, maintain, and document policies and procedures related to materials and supply chain operations
• Stay current on market conditions, industry best practices, and emerging technologies impacting supply chain management
Must Haves
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field
• Proven experience in materials management, supply chain management, or procurement
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
• Demonstrated negotiation and communication skills with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
• Proficiency with ERP systems, inventory management software, and data analysis tools
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving results in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and supply chain best practices
Nice to Haves
• Master’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related discipline
• Professional certifications such as APICS, CSCP, or CPIM
• Experience applying lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
• Familiarity with international trade regulations and customs processes
• Prior experience supporting manufacturing or production operations
