USM ReRents is the leading aerial construction equipment re-rental company in the North America, supplying large boom lifts, compact atrium crawlers and heavy-capacity telehandlers to large equipment rental yards/companies throughout the US and Canada (who, in turn, rent these machines to the end user - most often a construction contractor). Demand for specialized rental equipment (and for USM ReRents' expanding equipment fleet) spurs our active search for an Inside Salesperson.
The Inside Salesperson is responsible for establishing new customer relationships and for further developing & strengthening partnerships with existing customers. This requires a seasoned, professional inside salesperson to effectively and efficiently respond to inquiries from national, regional and local construction equipment rental companies to re-rent from USM's aerial lift fleet.
Role & Responsibilities
As a vital member of a fun, motivated team led by our National Sales Manager, the Inside Salesperson develops new rental business, supports & expands existing rental partnerships, and provides for annual sales growth by maximizing our rental assets' utilization.
- Source and build relationships with new rental customers
- Further develop and strengthen existing relationship with rental customers
- Grow monthly rental revenue by driving wholesale re-rental business
- Heavy outbound calling and inbound call servicing
- Educate customers on specialized equipment uses, applications, operation and USM rental and contract process
- Consistently maintain records of sales activity in company CRM (Pipedrive)
- Foster a collaborative work environment by communicating frequently, effectively and respectfully with rental coordinators, fleet service specialists, equipment repair technicians and the sales team
Minimum Requirements
- At a minimum, applicants should possess an Associate’s degree. Additional years (3+) of equipment rental and/or sales experience may be substituted for degree.
- 2+ years’ genuine inside sales experience - preferably with aerial work platforms, telehandler forklifts and/or general rental equipment. All related equipment experience will be considered.
- Proven abilities to effectively communicate to customers, to manage difficult customer situations; to solicit customer feedback to improve service; and to meet/exceed commitments and customer’s expectations.
- Polished ability to keep a focus on solving occasional conflicts; to keep emotions under control; to remain open to others` ideas and be willing to compromise to affect the best outcome.
- Demonstrated skills at speaking clearly, persuasively, and effectively communicating detail. Speaking respectfully in all situations. Listening to others without interrupting; obtaining clarification; responding well to questions.
- Effective ability to balance individual & team interests; to contribute to a positive team spirit; help build group commitment to goals and objectives; to support everyone`s efforts to succeed.
- Past experience at setting & achieving challenging goals; demonstrating persistence and overcoming obstacles; and moving ahead with positive actions even in the face of ambiguity.
- Strong knowledge of the sales process and a keen attention to detail
- Experience working in MS Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word) and in CRM software
Location and Work Schedule
USM has an in-office work culture and is located in Elmhurst, IL. Remote work is not available. The work schedule is Mon - Fri, 8 am to 5 pm. USM strongly promotes employees’ work-life balance; as such, there are no evening nor weekend hours. Very infrequent travel to industry conferences (at most, once per year).
Compensation and Benefits
This position’s compensation structure consists of a base salary (range: $60,000 - $75,000), plus a monthly commission. Base salary is commensurate on previous equipment rental industry knowledge and previous sales experience.
