Data Science Intern

United States of America

About The Team

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Security Data Analytics (SDA) team is part of our Information Security organization and plays a key role in how we understand and manage cyber risk. Our vision is to empower SIE to identify and reduce cyber threats more effectively by providing actionable intelligence and a clear view of risk across the company.

We combine AI, advanced data analytics, machine learning, and automation to transform raw security data into practical insights. Our mission is to collect, transform, and enrich data from many sources, so leaders can make informed decisions based on prioritized, business-aligned risk insights.

What You’ll Do

As a Data Science Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience with AI-driven methods that improve efficiency, reduce overhead, and support real-world security operations. You’ll collaborate directly with analysts, engineers, and IT partners to develop solutions that help SIE act with confidence. You will:

  • Develop and prototype agentic AI and machine learning solutions that automate workflows for exposure management, risk scoring, and continuous monitoring.

  • Work with large datasets in Snowflake (security data lakehouse) to query, transform, and enrich security data; apply Cortex AI for pattern recognition, anomaly detection, and natural language summarization.

  • Build and optimize data pipelines and backend workflows that unify information from security, IT, and engineering sources.

  • Create and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations using Domo and Snowflake-native tools, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and secure access.

  • Automate data storytelling and executive-ready summaries, translating technical findings into clear, business-aligned insights.

  • Collaborate with security analysts, engineers, and IT/Engineering stakeholders to validate insights, refine models, and support decision-making.

What You’ll Gain

  • How to apply AI and machine learning to real security challenges at scale.

  • Best practices for building data pipelines and models in a cloud-based security environment.

  • Skills in data visualization, automation, and risk analysis that are highly transferable across technology fields.

  • How to present technical findings in a way that supports strategic decisions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field with graduation expected between December 2026 and Spring 2027.

  • Proficient in SQL (Snowflake preferred), with experience building queries, transformations, and secure data models in the cloud.

  • Proficient in Python for data analysis (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) and visualization (e.g., Streamlit, Matplotlib).

  • Experience with data wrangling, preprocessing, and feature engineering for ML/AI workflows.

  • Strong understanding of machine learning techniques (classification, clustering, anomaly detection) and their use with large, complex datasets.

  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Hands-on experience with data visualization platforms, particularly Domo and Snowflake-native tools (connectors, dashboards/cards, and security controls).

  • Nice to have: Familiarity with cloud data ecosystems (AWS/GCP/Azure) and experience applying data science in cybersecurity or risk analytics.

Eligibility

  • Students with expected graduation between December 2026 and Spring 2027 from an accredited university. Advanced Degree - Masters

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 18th - August 7th or June 15th - September 4th. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

At this time, SIE will only consider applicants who are authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from SIE now or in the future to maintain their authorization to work in the United States.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

Please refer to our Candidate Privacy Notice for more information about how we process your personal information, and your data protection rights.
