About the Team

At Sony Interactive Entertainment, the Product UX & Tooling (PUXT) team builds internal tools and applications that help PlayStation teams work more efficiently and deliver better products. Our focus is on process automation, streamlined user experiences, and robust integration frameworks across a range of systems.

We support engineering and operations by reducing manual work, enabling scale, and improving service reliability. PUXT is a collaborative team that blends design, frontend, and middleware engineering to solve complex internal problems with custom software.

About the Role

As a Software Engineering Intern on the PUXT team, you will contribute to the design and development of internal tools that impact how PlayStation delivers world-class products. You’ll work across frontend and middleware technologies, gain hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, and Node.js, and collaborate with UX designers and engineers to build scalable, accessible, and reusable solutions.

This internship offers an opportunity to learn how custom applications improve developer workflows and to contribute directly to projects that streamline internal processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to the development of internal tools and applications

  • Implement user interface components using React and TypeScript

  • Develop middleware services in Node.js

  • Collaborate with UX team and stakeholders to build scalable, accessible, and reusable front-end components

  • Participate in code reviews, team ceremonies, and contribute to improving development workflows

  • Work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team

What You’ll Learn

  • Practical experience building modern web applications with React, TypeScript, and Node.js

  • Best practices in creating reusable, scalable, and accessible UI components

  • How middleware services support frontend and backend integration

  • Exposure to real-world software development workflows, including Git, code reviews, and agile team practices

  • Insights into improving developer experience with custom internal tools

  • Optional exploration of AI/ML concepts and modern infrastructure technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

What We’re Looking For

  • Current enrollment in an accredited university Bachelor’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, with graduation expected between December 2026 and Spring 2027.

  • Experience with front-end development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

  • Familiarity with modern frameworks such as React and tools like Git

  • Basic understanding of REST APIs and web application architecture

  • Exposure to Node.js or other backend technologies is a plus

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate in a team setting

  • Interest in building user-centric tools and improving developer experience

Bonus for

  • Familiarity with foundational AI/ML concepts

  • Hands-on experience with generative AI tools, models, or frameworks (e.g., OpenAI)

  • Understanding of containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes

Eligibility

  • Students with expected graduation between December 2026 and Spring 2027 from an accredited university. Undergraduate

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 18th - August 7th or June 15th - September 4th. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
