The Core Engineering group works on PlayStation’s real-time video streaming technologies, including PS+ Cloud Streaming, SharePlay, RemotePlay, and ShareScreen. These systems deliver high-quality, low-latency streaming experiences that connect millions of players worldwide.

About the Role

As a Software Engineering Intern in Core Engineering, you’ll contribute to the design, implementation, and support of real-time streaming applications. You’ll work primarily in C++, with potential opportunities to use JavaScript depending on your project assignment. This role gives you hands-on experience with streaming technologies, collaboration with experienced engineers, and exposure to the processes that power PlayStation’s cloud-based services.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and support real-time streaming applications in C++

  • Collaborate with engineers to develop solutions and fix bugs

  • Create software design documents that propose solutions and highlight potential challenges

  • Write clear, maintainable code that meets group standards with proper documentation

  • Triage bug reports and work with QA teams on testing and rolling out fixes

What We’re Looking For

  • Current enrollment in an accredited university Bachelor’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, with graduation expected between December 2026 and Spring 2027

  • Proficiency with C/C++ programming languages

  • Knowledge of software methodologies, including object-oriented programming and functional programming

  • Familiarity with concepts of agile development methodology

Eligibility

  • Students with expected graduation between December 2026 and Spring 2027 from an accredited university. Undergraduate

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 18th - August 7th or June 15th - September 4th. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
