About the Team
The PlayStation Trust & Safety Engineering Organization is dedicated to creating the most engaging and safe space for our gamers, proactively protecting the PlayStation brand. Within this organization, the Predictive Safety Team applies Machine Learning (ML) and emerging technologies to identify harmful material and activity before it impacts players.
Our interns join us at the forefront of these efforts. For example, our Summer 2023 intern focused on proof-of-concept adoption of Thorn, an ML model designed to detect grooming behavior in chat scenarios. In Summer 2025, an intern worked on safeguarding our network from violative GIFs and videos.
About the Role
As a Software Engineering Intern on the Predictive Safety Team, you’ll contribute to software that protects players while maintaining engaging and enjoyable experiences on the PlayStation Network. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to ML services, safety platform development, and cross-functional collaboration—all while supporting PlayStation’s mission to be the Safest Place to Play.
What You’ll Do
- Develop software that safeguards PlayStation users while enhancing platform engagement
- Work with new ML services to create innovative approaches to protecting online interactions
- Design, develop, and deliver small features within Safety Platform Services, improving protections across images, videos, URLs, and text
- Engage with the wider Trust & Safety organization to learn about the domain and its impact

What We’re Looking For
- Current enrollment in an accredited university Bachelor’s program in Information Technology, Computer Programming, or related field, with graduation expected between December 2026 and Spring 2027.
- Smart, resourceful, and driven to get things done
- An insatiable curiosity and desire to learn
- Self-starter and proactive mindset—you’ll be supported, but expected to take the wheel
- Strong communication skills, organized, and detail-oriented
- Passion for building strong working relationships with the Safety team and stakeholders
- Ideally proficient in at least one of the following: Python, Java, C++, Angular, or Rus
- Deeply resonates with our mission to make PlayStation the Safest Place to Play
Eligibility
- Students with expected graduation between December 2026 and Spring 2027 from an accredited university. Undergraduate
- Able to work during one of the following periods: May 18th - August 7th or June 15th - September 4th. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
- Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
