About The Team
At Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), users' gaming life experience and engagement are the key to our platform's success. Our team, as part of Gaming Experience, builds large-scale backend services that power exciting user experiences across customers' gaming life.
As an intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience contributing to PlayStation’s backend services—systems that impact millions of players around the globe. You’ll work directly with engineers who design, operate, and scale the core features behind PS4 and PS5 gaming.
What You’ll Do

Design and implement RESTful Web Services APIs

Develop algorithms that process massive data sets to power these APIs

Produce clear, thorough design and development documentation

Contribute in an agile development environment

What We’re Looking For
-
Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, or a related field with graduation expected between December 2026 and Spring 2027.

Good understanding of object-oriented design and programming (exposure to Java highly desired)

Understanding of database concepts, with familiarity in relational and non-relational systems

Knowledge of and some experience in developing web server applications

Passion for writing high-quality, well-architected code

Above average written and verbal communication skills, with a willingness to ask questions and seek guidance
Nice to Have

Knowledge of design and architectural patterns

Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Prior exposure to backend services development
Eligibility
-
Students with expected graduation between December 2026 and Spring 2027 from an accredited university. Undergraduate Degree

Able to work during one of the following periods: May 18th - August 7th or June 15th - September 4th. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
