Service Reliability Intern

At SRE, Reliability is our middle name. We partner with service teams to put the customer experience first at every stage of the service lifecycle. Through practical guidance and software engineering principles, we ensure services run smoothly with minimal human intervention. When services face disruption, we lead the response efforts to swiftly restore service health, maintain transparent communication with stakeholders, and champion proactive improvements to prevent future issues.

What You’ll Do

As an SRE Intern, you will gain hands-on experience with reliability practices and modern operations at SIE. You’ll work alongside experienced SREs to:

  • Understand reliability practices and operations at SIE through real-world exposure and mentorship.

  • Develop automation to improve and/or eliminate toilsome processes across SIE, applying software engineering principles to practical challenges.

  • Contribute to ongoing internal reliability efforts by iterating on tools, processes, and systems in collaboration with SIE SREs.

What You’ll Gain

What We’re Looking For

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science with a focus or interest in reliability engineering or technical operations with an expected graduation between December 2026 - Spring 2027.

  • Proficient in Python or Golang.

  • Experience or interest in open source contributions is a plus.

  • Eager to collaborate, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership for your work.

Eligibility

  • Students with expected graduation between December 2026 and Spring 2027 from an accredited university. Undergraduate

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 18th - August 7th or June 15th - September 4th. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

At this time, SIE will only consider applicants who are authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from SIE now or in the future to maintain their authorization to work in the United States.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. 

 

 

Intern Pay Range

$41.50 - $50 USD
