Role Description:
The Data Science Intern will support the Strategic & Commercial Finance team within Studio Business Group (SBG), contributing to a broad range of analytics work such as title performance analysis, planning and forecasting support, and data-driven evaluation of trends, opportunities, and key business questions.
In this role, the intern will apply SQL, Python, and statistical methods to help generate actionable insights that support business and portfolio decision-making across PlayStation Studios. The role is highly collaborative and offers exposure to cross-functional work with partners across Finance, Portfolio Strategy, and First-Party Studios in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
Responsibilities:

Partner with SBG stakeholders (e.g., Finance, Portfolio Strategy, Corporate Strategy, and Studios) to translate open-ended business questions into structured analytical plans, clear hypotheses, and measurable outputs

Use SQL and Python to extract, process, and validate large-scale datasets; build reliable analytical datasets to support work on player behavior, title performance, sales trends, and market dynamics

Apply analytical techniques such as time series analysis, event-impact analysis, regression modeling, and competitive benchmarking to evaluate business performance, quantify drivers, and generate actionable insights

Assist in developing and improving repeatable analytical frameworks and tools for common business use cases, such as pricing analysis, market sizing, feature mapping, audience segmentation, and reporting automation

Create clear data visualizations, presentations, and written summaries that communicate insights effectively to non-technical stakeholders and support business decision-making

Contribute to ad hoc analyses across a range of strategic topics, including launch strategy, audience expansion, sales performance, portfolio planning, and post-launch tracking
Minimum Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a MS in Computer Science, Math, Economics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or other science and engineering fields

Strong understanding of SQL and experience working with large datasets

Proficiency in Python or R for data cleaning, analysis, visualization, and modeling

Experience with exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis, and developing and evaluating machine learning models

Familiarity with analytical techniques such as regression, forecasting, time series analysis, hypothesis testing, or causal / event-impact analysis

The insight to take ambiguous problems and solve them in a structured, business-driven, data-supported way

Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate analytical findings into clear business insights for both technical and non-technical audiences

Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
Desirable Skills:

Knowledge of the video game industry (genres, player behavior, monetization models, market trends), familiarization with PlayStation Studios and first party titles is a plus

Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Domo, Looker, Power BI)

Basic understanding of financial concepts (e.g., revenue, cost, ROI, P&L)

Experience with data pipelines, automation, or web scraping is a plus

Exposure to optimization or simulation tools (e.g., Gurobi) is a plus
Eligibility:
- Students with expected graduation between December 2026 and Spring 2027 from an accredited university. Master's
- Able to work during one of the following periods: May 18th - August 7th or June 15th - September 4th. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
- Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
Intern Pay Range
$36 - $43.25 USD
