University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO) provides investment management services to UVA and its associated organizations. We are responsible for evaluating, selecting, and monitoring investment strategies for a $14 billion endowment portfolio. Our portfolio is invested globally across a broad range of established and emerging asset classes and strategies including public equity, hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, real estate, resources, credit, fixed income, and derivatives. The vast majority of our investments are implemented through long-term partnerships with world-class external fund managers. Position Overview

Investment Analysts work as an integral member of a small, flat team, interfacing directly with senior management to research and evaluate investment opportunities.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work across the investment team to research global investment themes and conduct external manager due diligence in various asset classes
  • Conduct relevant quantitative analysis to evaluate current and prospective investment managers
  • Participate in diligence meetings with external investment managers, traveling onsite as needed
  • Prepare and present investment recommendations alongside senior staff
  • Attend internal investment committee meetings and contribute independent opinions
  • Source, evaluate, and track new investment opportunities
  • Analyze and monitor existing portfolio holdings and track versus expectations
  • Assess current opportunities and risks for various investment strategies across public and private markets
  • Complete special projects as directed by senior management

 Skills and Qualifications

 The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Undergraduate degree (degree in finance, economics, math, data/quantitative analysis, or engineering disciplines preferred) and excellent academic credentials
  • 0 to 2 years professional experience, investment related work preferred
  • Demonstrated passion for investing and global markets with a high level of curiosity
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally to evaluate investment opportunities and attend industry conferences
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • High level of professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to be resourceful and work independently
