Operational Due Diligence Associate/Senior Associate

Position Overview
UVIMCO is looking for a Operational Due Diligence (“ODD”) Professional who will be responsible for conducting comprehensive operational assessments of current and prospective investment managers across all asset classes within UVIMCO’s Long Term Pool. This role involves evaluating the operational infrastructure, risk management practices, compliance frameworks, and business continuity planning of investment managers, with the objective of mitigating non-investment risks. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct ODD reviews of prospective and existing investment managers, including onsite visits, document reviews, and interviews with key personnel
- Assess manager policies, procedures, and controls related to operations, compliance, valuation, cash management, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery
- Provide candid feedback and recommendations to managers as appropriate
- Prepare written reports summarizing due diligence findings for internal stakeholders and committees
- Monitor existing manager and investment relationships for operational risk indicators
- Collaborate with senior investment team members, as well as legal and operations teams to highlight, contextualize, and address operational issues
- Maintain and enhance UVIMCO’s operational due diligence framework and tools
- Execute scheduled projects and respond to ad hoc requests in support of the ODD program
- Coordinate and monitor investments made through separately managed accounts
- Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices, regulatory developments, and emerging operational risks
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to assess complex operational environments
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to present findings clearly and concisely
- Ability to track, interrelate, and prioritize competing deadlines and objectives
- Collaborative team orientation and strong interpersonal skills
- Judgment, intellectual curiosity, emotional intelligence, resourcefulness, and professionalism
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required
- Previous experience evaluating and/or auditing traditional and alternative investment products and managers (hedge funds, private equity, alternative mutual funds, and/or fund-of-funds) as an allocator, consultant, or service provider
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
