Accounts Receivable Specialist

Position Purpose
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable (A/R) Specialist to join our team in Colorado. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate cash posting, accounts receivable management, and credit balance review. The ideal candidate is local to Colorado and able to work on-site at the manager’s discretion. Under the direction of leadership, this position also supports financial reporting and contributes to the efficiency of our revenue cycle operations.
Essential Job Functions
Accounts Receivable & Cash Posting

Accurately post daily patient payments, allowances, adjustments, and denials in a timely manner.

Prepare deposits, record general ledger (GL) entries, reconcile batches, and investigate discrepancies.
Credit Balance Review

Review, analyze, and research A/R credit balances to ensure proper resolution and compliance.
Reporting & Financial Support

Assist the Accounting Manager with monthly close activities, including generating system reports and reconciling accounts.

Support annual external audits by preparing schedules and gathering required documentation.

Assemble data and prepare special reports as requested by leadership.
Revenue Cycle & Denials Support

Track payment delays and denials; identify trends related to insurers, procedure codes, physicians, etc.

Communicate findings to billing and collections teams to support process improvement.
Team Collaboration

Provide occasional back-up support to front office staff as needed.

Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative department culture.

Demonstrate adherence to Just Culture principles, organizational values, and HIPAA requirements.
Qualifications
Experience
-
Minimum 1 year of accounting experience required.

Experience in a physician office, hospital, ambulatory facility, or revenue cycle setting preferred.

Familiarity with Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) preferred.
Education

Associate’s degree, technical training, or minimum two years of related experience required.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Healthcare Administration preferred.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.
Hourly Pay:
$21.52 - $28.26 USD
