The Behavioral Health Specialist plays a pivotal role in developing, leading, and enhancing therapeutic and psychoeducational programming for individuals with complex behavioral health needs. This position provides advanced one-on-one and group support to patients, collaborates directly with interdisciplinary behavioral health teams, and serves as support to the Behavioral Health Nursing and Technician staff.
- Develops, schedules, and implements engaging therapeutic groups and psychoeducational sessions tailored to diverse patient needs.
- Provides advanced one-on-one support and interventions for patients presenting with complex behavioral health concerns, as assigned by the behavioral health team.
- Serves as a liaison between Nursing staff, Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT’s), and behavioral health professionals to ensure seamless communication and continuity of care.
- Actively participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and care planning processes, contributing clinical insight and recommendations.
- Coaches and supports BHT staff in the use of de-escalation techniques, intervention strategies, and therapeutic engagement methods.
- Leads by example and promote best practices in behavioral health interventions and patient care throughout the team.
- Documents group sessions, patient responses, progress, and provides timely feedback to the behavioral health team for ongoing care coordination.
- May provide direct care and support to patients, including assistance with daily living activities/hygiene, obtaining vital signs, crisis interventions, and health education.
- May conduct regular patient safety checks, monitors for any signs of distress or behavioral changes and environmental/room checks. Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Ensures compliance with local, internal, state, federal, and regulatory standards and compliance including quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Role models the principals of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
- Two years of experience working in behavioral health settings, with demonstrated expertise in supporting individuals with complex mental health needs preferred.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and evaluate therapeutic group programming and individualized interventions preferred.

- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
- Associate degree or certification in behavioral health, psychology, or a related field preferred.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.
Hourly Pay:
$25.98 - $35.84 USD
