Loan Administration at Valon

The Loan Administration team powers all of the operations required to keep Valon running smoothly. From onboarding loans to handling insurance and processing payments, the Loan Administration team ensures that homeowners continue to receive a first-class experience at Valon from behind the scenes.

About the Role 

As the Collateral Management Supervisor, you will play a critical role in overseeing lien releases and collateral processes across all GSE investor loans. You’ll be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing, maintaining compliance with investor guidelines, and collaborating with key stakeholders, including custodians, investors, and internal teams. This role requires a detail-oriented leader who can manage complex workflows, drive process improvements, and serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on all things collateral-related.

Responsibilities 

  • Ensure lien releases are processed timely, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and county guidelines.
  • Collaborate with investors, custodians, and document custodians to resolve collateral-related issues.
  • Monitor and respond timely to audits, and regulatory requirements for collateral.
  • Partner with management, technology, and compliance team to enhance collateral management workflows.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to the development of scalable solutions.
  • Train and mentor team members on best practices and industry standards.
  • Review and monitor processing of collateral files and documents, including promissory notes, mortgage/deeds of trust, assignments, and title policies, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure the team maintains and updates loan records in our internal systems to reflect accurate collateral status.
  • Coordinate with clients and document custodians to manage the location of physical and electronic document storage and retrieval.
  • Supervise team to support onboards, offboards, and repurchases by validating collateral file location, ordering files, shipping files, and completing release forms to move files to the designated custodian.
  • Communicate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external contacts to address document-related inquiries, obtain collateral documents needed, and provide timely updates.
  • Coordinate review and clearing of exceptions for the vendor related to images of the note needed to provide the letter in lieu for homeowners in original document states.
  • Act as point of contact for escalation to external parties for collateral and lien release activities.

Ideal Background

  •  5+ years of mortgage servicing experience, with a strong focus on collateral management and lien updates.
  • Expertise in GSE investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac).
  • Strong understanding of custodial documentation and investor requirements.
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex workflows.
  • Proficiency in mortgage servicing systems and data management tools.
  • MERS experience a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
