Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, organizing, and controlling of resources to achieve Cisco Network digital innovation project goals within scope, time, quality, and budget constraints. This role involves independently managing Cisco Network digital innovation projects, guiding junior professionals, and ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives. This is a contract position expected to last 3 years given the breadth of the project. It is a real opportunity that Valspec is working on with a client in California and there will be some site visits involved, so we are probably going to select candidates from California first to contact.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the scope, schedule, cost, and quality of Cisco Network projects to align with business objectives.
  • Lead Cisco Network IT projects from inception to completion, including infrastructure upgrades, software development, and systems integration.
  • Allocate Network Engineering resources based on skills and availability for efficient utilization.
  • Provide IT and Network Engineering project oversight and maintain transparent communication with stakeholders, including regular updates on progress, risks, and key metrics.
  • Oversee all aspects of Cisco Network project delivery, including schedule management, risk mitigation, stakeholder engagement, and resource planning.
  • Identify and assess potential risks to project success, focusing on scope changes, resource limitations, and technical challenges.
  • Develop and implement IT and business risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to maintain project momentum and protect key deliverables.
  • Update key stakeholders on status, risks, and accomplishments to ensure successful delivery.
  • Guide project teams in governance compliance while fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Engage stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to align expectations, incorporate feedback, and address concerns proactively.
  • Deliver concise status reports to leadership, highlighting progress against milestones and any changes from planned objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience with 5+ years in IT roles.
  • Cisco network upgrade/refresh project experience is required.
  • Strong Cisco networking skills are a plus.
  • Experience in software implementation projects is advantageous.
  • Proficient in SDLC, Agile tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project), and PMI Methodology.
  • Experienced in managing multiple technical projects, IT infrastructure, and digital product development.
  • Expertise in stakeholder communication, risk identification, budgeting, strategic planning, and roadmap development.
  • Strong problem-solving, financial analysis, and value realization capabilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to simplify technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Skilled in organizing and optimizing project-related information and outcomes.
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and driving effective collaboration.

Hourly Rate Range: $75 - $85 / hour range is an estimate of pay for project-based employment. Range varies based on knowledge and experience. Higher rates for short-term assignments and independent contractors.
