The role

You are the regional manager and main point of contact for Valtech’s Immigration policies and procedures in North America. You partner daily with leaders in People & Culture, Legal and Finance and work closely with employees, managers and executives across the global organization to ensure compliance with both regulatory requirements and company guidelines. 

Role responsibilities

  • Partner with Legal, Finance and People & Culture leadership to create and lead the immigration strategy for North America 
  • Manage any team members who are involved in NA immigration activities in an interim, temporary, transitional or permanent capacity
  • Prepare, complete or facilitate all non-immigrant and immigrant visa applications
  • Execute global transfers in partnership with the appropriate P&C Business Partners and relevant managers
  • Understand complex immigration/international issues relating to global mobility
  • Ensure company compliance regarding US & Canadian government requirements, including with USCIS & DOL regarding E-Verify & I-9 requirements 
  • Coordinate all legal aspects of the immigration process, in strategic partnership with internal legal department and external counsels 
  • Ensure company compliance with LMIA undertakings and reporting requirements 
  • Coordinate response to audits and requests for information from immigration authorities 
  • Coordinate L1 Blanket submissions and updates 
  • Conduct regular internal immigration audits to ensure ongoing compliance with immigration laws and company mobility policies 
  • Keep management informed of all immigration related changes to the regulations
  • Manage immigration budget, while suggesting and implementing any possible cost-saving measures
  • Interface with employees, management & human resources staff on immigration related matters
  • Maintain required public inspection files to ensure compliance with immigration laws
  • Track & maintain required visa filings
  • Prepare & maintain educational materials along with training guides
  • Work with management concerning mergers & acquisitions to determine/resolve immigration related issues and filing requirements
  • Benchmark with other companies regarding best practices for corporate immigration services
  • Prepare and file immigration applications, petitions, and supporting documentation
  • Monitor case progress and update employees on case status
  • Guide employees through the immigration process, explaining requirements and procedures
  • Stay updated on changes in immigration law, regulations and policies
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other immigration professionals
  • Maintain detailed and accurate case files
  • Assist employees with any issues or difficulties as they arise during the immigration process 

Minimum qualifications

  • Strong expertise / Significant knowledge in US immigration regulations, requirements, and processes 
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting and legal processes
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to engage across all levels of the organization
  • Strength in building partnerships; working collaboratively in a matrixed environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Creative thinker, leveraging prior experiences in solving problems in an innovative way
  • Good technical background to leverage technologies for increasing efficiency in immigration management 
  • Ability to manage and facilitate confidential information, data and situations while communicating tactfully
  • Experience exercising independent judgment and discretion while utilizing company policies and practices to determine appropriate action 

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong expertise / Significant knowledge in Canadian immigration regulations, requirements, and processes
  • Bilingual (French, English) desired but not required. Conversational knowledge of other languages also favored due to the multicultural nature of this work

The benefits

This is a full time position in the United States. The salary range offered for this position is $92,000-$120,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
