The role
This role includes the management and maintenance of Valtech’s corporate systems and other IT assets, troubleshooting team members’ IT-related laptop and system issues, and ensuring the overall well-functioning of technical operations. Additional responsibilities may include support for client infrastructure systems as needed. After-hours support is required depending on projects and support needs.
Role responsibilities
- Install, configure, diagnose, repair, and upgrade all corporate hardware and equipment, including end-user laptop and workstation issues (Level 1 & 2 support).
- Coordinate and collaborate with the business application team to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate infrastructure to meet business demands.
- Execute infrastructure upgrades during maintenance windows, addressing patching, security fixes, and vendor-supplied patches, with support from senior colleagues.
- Assist with research on server hardware, software, and protocols in support of development efforts.
- Support the existing backup environment.
- Manage retention and offsite backups.
- Interact with vendors to procure hardware and software.
- Coordinate hardware and software installations and upgrades to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Monitor system/network security.
- Provide support for Internet/Intranet and remote access VPN services.
- Support server, workstation, Wi-Fi, and network devices as required, with assistance from senior colleagues.
- Edit procedural IT manuals and knowledge base.
Minimum qualifications

- 2 to 4 years of experience in system administration.
- Fundamental knowledge of TCP/IP V4/V6 protocols in a LAN environment.
- Familiarity with SMTP, SIP, WWW, FTP, AFS, SMB, SNMP.
- Experience in Microsoft platforms and services, including:
- Windows Server
- Active Directory 2003 or higher
- ADFS
- MS SQL Server 2012/2014
- Internet Information Server
- Hyper-V
- VMware
- DNS Services
- Communication Services VOIP/IM/Conferencing (Teams, Skype for Business)
- Endpoint Security Products (Windows Defender, Sophos)
- Office 365 / Teams
- Familiarity and overall understanding of Microsoft Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Experience administering accounts on common password management platforms.
- Familiarity with Mobile Device Management solutions like JAMF and InTune.
- Plan to obtain recognized Microsoft certification (server, cloud, security).
- Fundamental experience working with network devices operating on Layer 2/3/4.
- Foundational analysis and problem-solving abilities related to network and system devices.
- Exposure to various architectures and environments such as Windows, OS X, Linux, and iOS, and capable of conducting rudimentary maintenance activities on each.
- Ability to write basic PowerShell scripts to support network operations.
- Ability to assist in training end users on key corporate tools and systems, security, data protection, and GDPR-related topics.
- Ability and willingness to support junior colleagues.
- Flexibility to travel to other Valtech offices if required.
- Intermediate English
