CNC Programmer

Vast is looking for a CNC Programmer, reporting to the Manager of Programming, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. In this role, you will create programs, set up sheets, and simulation files to support the machine shop in the manufacture and development of our in-house hardware.
This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Shift hours:
- First Shift: 6AM-3:30PM
- Second Shift: 3PM-12:30AM
Responsibilities:
- Program complex parts for our mills and/or lathes
- Proficiency in Hypermill and/or Esprit
- Work with tooling suppliers to determine the best tools for the job
- Understand how to ramp parts from development to production
- Reduce machine time per part when possible
- Increase overall efficiency of machining operations
- Procure tooling necessary for jobs
- Effectively work as a team and pass on workload to the following shift
- Support and foster a strong team environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of CNC machining experience and 5+ years of programming experience
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Familiarity with inspection tools
- Understanding of CAD and CAM software
- Understanding of feeds and speeds
- Knowledge of G-Code
- Strong Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to ensure quality parts are produced from programs being created/proved out
- Strong oral and written communication
- College or Trade school certificate
- Working knowledge of Additive Manufactured Parts
- Multi-axis Mill, Lathe, Mill-Turn and Turn-Mill knowledge
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs unassisted
- Prolonged periods of standing, pushing/pulling, lifting, and operating machines
Pay Ranges:
- T2: $28.00 - $39.00
- T3: $35.00 - $44.00
- T4: $42.00 - $53.00
