Manager, EMI-EMC

Vast is looking for a Manager, EMI-EMC, reporting to the Director, RF Engineering, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit and empower a diverse team of engineers to develop our approach to design & test for EMI and other in space environments such as plasma charging.
- Guide the development of EMI-EMC, in space charging, grounding & bonding requirements for Vast spacecraft.
- Guide the derivation and distribution of EMI & in space environmental requirements.
- Tailor industry standards for Vast spacecraft and missions.
- Ensure the EMI & Space Physics team meets project deadlines and company objectives.
- Foster a strong interdisciplinary relationship with other teams that rely on the EMI-EMC team to be successful
- Exemplify a culture of excellence, extreme ownership, and safety. Enable engineers to take responsibility for the system level impact of their work.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of experience working in EMI/EMC
- 2+ years of experience in engineering leadership
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Ms or PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or related engineering discipline
- Experience in EMI/EMC, in space charging for spacecraft, triboelectrification, grounding & bonding
- Prior experience in an electronics or electrical systems design role
- Experience with software development in Matlab, Python, etc
- Experience with digital communications standards such as Ethernet, RS-422, PCIe, GMII, etc
- Experience developing infrastructure for MIL-STD-461 compliance test (procedures, facilities, equipment, etc)
- Deep understanding of electromagnetics, ionizing radiation, and plasma effects on spacecraft systems
- Strong sense of accountability and integrity with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to teach people of a multitude of education and industry backgrounds about EMI-EMC
Pay Range:
- $160,000 - $200,000
Salary Range: California
$160,000 - $200,000 USD
