Vast is looking for a Senior Controls and Automation Technician, reporting to the Hardware Development Supervisor, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. The Haven team is dedicated to transforming space access for humanity, aiming to pave the way for new frontiers in the cosmos and ultimately fostering a multi-planetary existence. This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Build control and automation systems that vet and verify space flight hardware
- Bring-up and integrate the software that runs the testing across the company
- Follow data from ingest to post-processing leading to data driven decisions
- Collaborate with software, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, and production test teams
- Troubleshoot and debug control systems to resolve issues and ensure optimal performance
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of experience manufacturing wire harnesses in commercial, automotive, or aerospace industry
- 2+ years of experience using electronics equipment (e.g. programmable power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience using basic mechanical and/or electronics hand tools
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Prior involvement in a high-output environment, involving hands-on experience in constructing cables, electro-mechanical devices, or building prototypes
- Experience with soldering PCBAs
- Expertise in manufacturing and repairing intricate testing systems
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as SVN, Confluence, and JIRA
- Basic comprehension of electronic principles and theory
- Qualifications in NASA STD 8739.4, IPC-620, and J-STD-001
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work overtime, or weekends to support critical mission milestones
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs unassisted

- Technician I: $21.33 - 30.69
- Technician II: $28.47 - $40.97
- Technician III: $33.79 - $48.63
- Senior Technician: $40.00 - $50.00
