Avionics Test Technician

Vast is looking for a(n) Avionics Test Technician, reporting to the Manager of Avionics Testing, to support the building and operation of automated testing systems required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This is a hands-on role that will directly contribute to the validating of Avionics systems.
This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Build and commission test systems for avionics systems and associated electronics hardware
- Operate, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and modify testing equipment
- Support development, acceptance, qualification, and investigative test campaigns via build and operation of test systems
- Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
- Use various mechanical tools without instruction
- Read and interpret technical drawings including cable harnesses, and wiring diagrams in support of above activities.
- Have a working understanding of standard industry ESD best practices
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
- Monitor one's own work progress against established standards and deliver all work on schedule
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, test, operations, aerospace industry, or other relevant role
- 2+ years of experience using electronics equipment (e.g. programmable power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience using basic mechanical and/or electronics hand tools
- High School Diploma or equivalency certificate
- Basic comprehension of electrical principles and wiring concepts including electrical safety
- Proficient with computers and the ability to use MS Office and Google Workspace
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Hands-on experience with product testing
- Experience with relevant aerospace testing standards (SMC-S-016, etc)
- Experience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military, or other high-reliability operating environments
- Knowledge of data acquisition systems (Analog inputs, analog output, digital inputs, digital outputs)
- Experience working with C++, python, and operating linux systems
- Knowledge of JIRA project management software and Confluence
- Qualifications in NASA STD 8739.4, IPC-620, and J-STD-001
- Experience working in a cleanroom environment
- Experience with soldering PCBAs
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
Pay Range:
$35-43 Hourly
Salary Range: California
$35 - $43 USD
