Summary:
Vaxcyte has an exciting opportunity for a Scientist I, Non-Clinical Immunoassay Development, to join their Non-Clinical, Clinical Serology & Immunoassay Development Team, who will be reporting into the Director, Clinical Serology. Vaxcyte is looking for a highly competent Scientist who will perform duties associated to the development of analytical and functional immunological assays for multiple vaccine programs, and for any new development projects. This person will help to implement new methods in relation to improving our process. The role requires an extremely high level of organization, and the ability to manage multiple assay developments and maintain large volumes of data. In addition, the successful candidate will require significant experience in developing, running and troubleshooting ELISA-type, cell-based and flow cytometry assays. Knowledge of immunogenicity principles, cell culture and GDP and GLP/GCLP guidelines is an asset.
Essential Functions:
- Support development and optimization of assay suites for our current 3 programs, and for new projects.
- Have an extremely high level of organization, and the ability to multitask and maintain up-to-date inventories of material and reagents.
- Demonstrate experience and initiative in developing and troubleshooting ELISA/MSD assays, immunogenicity assays, cell-based assays and/or flow cytometry assays.
- Compile data from experiments, interpret results as appropriate and prepare summaries and/or presentations.
Requirements:
- BSc/MSc in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Microbiology a relevant science with 0-2yrs PhD, MS with minimum 5years of relevant experience, BA/BS with minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
- Ideal candidate will have a significant background in immunology, cellular biology and infectiology (bacteriology and/or virology).
- Experience in cell culture, analytical/immunological assays and flow cytometry.
- Having a high degree of organizational capabilities for both reagents and experimental scheduling a must.
- Experience in managing critical reagents in terms of storage, inventory maintenance and shipping.
- Prior experience of transferring methods to external partners for validation would also be advantageous.
- Experience in immunoassay development, qualification, validation and troubleshooting.
- Good communication skills, leadership, capacity to adapt to new situations and focus on innovation and process improvement are important assets.
- The ability to present complex data sets and independently propose and design follow-up experiments are also required.
- Maintaining good laboratory practices, safety and record keeping for themselves and their team is required.
