Summary:
The Buyer, Supply Chain supports the execution of procurement activities for materials and services required to enable manufacturing and supply chain operations in Switzerland and globally. This role is primarily responsible for requisitioning, purchase order management and supplier delivery coordination, ensuring on time delivery from suppliers. In addition, this role may support spend reporting and other project activities within Direct Procurement. The position operates in a regulated biotech environment and works closely with Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, MSAT and external CDMOs and suppliers to ensure timely, compliant, and cost‑effective purchasing.
Essential Functions:
- Act as primary requisitioner for raw materials and selected globally sourced goods and services.
- Ensure compliance with approved sourcing strategies, supplier contracts, pricing, and delivery terms.
- Interface with suppliers to confirm order acknowledgements, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Support resolution of order discrepancies, delivery delays, and invoice mismatches.
- Support spend tracking, reporting, and basic analytics to provide transparency on purchasing volumes and trends.
- Contribute data for budgeting, forecasting, and supplier performance reviews.
- Execute procurement transactions in SAP in line with defined processes and internal controls.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for procurement workflows, data quality, and reporting.
- Contribute to ERP and procurement process harmonization efforts across regions.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, Swiss regulatory requirements, and applicable GxP standards.
- Maintain complete and audit‑ready procurement documentation.
Requirements:
Commercial education (e.g Federal Diploma), or Bachelor’s degree, in a relevant field, with 3+ years of experience in a Buyer, Procurement, or Supply Chain Operations role. Other combinations of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional matrix organization and coordinate between multiple parties.
- Experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or similar regulated industry preferred.
- Hands‑on experience with purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and supplier interaction.
- Excellent communication, customer service and relationship skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Knowledge of ERP, MS Office and other relevant applications.
- Fluent in English.
- Fluency in German highly preferred; Italian and other European languages an advantage.
