Position Description
We are looking for a Veterinary Technician to work in our Surgery Department.
What You Can Expect To Do
  • Pre-Procedure Prep: Use your skills to ensure the patient, equipment, medications, and procedure areas are ready for planned and emergent procedures.
  • Administering Medications: Show your expertise by delivering medications with precision, whether it's through oral tablets, intravenous lines, subcutaneous injections, or intramuscular injections. Your skillful administration ensures each patient gets the right dose at the right time. 
  • Surgical Assistance: Be an indispensable part of the surgical team, providing hands-on support during procedures. Your skillful assistance, from handling instruments to positioning and managing surgical needs, ensures each operation goes off without a hitch.  
  • Surgical Nursing: Providing essential support before, during, and after procedures. From prepping the operating room to assisting with surgical tasks, you'll ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently, contributing to successful outcomes. 
  • Diagnostic Imaging: Become the go-to expert for capturing critical diagnostic imaging.
  • Laboratory Sample Handling and Testing: Manage laboratory samples, ensuring they are properly collected, labeled, and processed. 
  • Recovery: As the patient starts to wake up, you’re there to monitor and ensure a safe and gentle recovery. 
  • Medical Records: Keep detailed and accurate medical records, documenting every aspect of patient care. Your meticulous record-keeping provides a comprehensive history that supports ongoing treatment and ensures continuity of care.   
     
Qualifications
Required
  • 1-2 years of working in a veterinary setting, with a preference for anesthesia, surgery or specialty/referral practice. 
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary anesthetic drugs and their effects, backed by specialized training and expertise. Surgical positioning experience a plus!
  • Skilled in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and other technical skills. 
  • Strong medical math skills and experience with drug calculations.
  • Attention to detail, must be thorough in your work, with a focus on accuracy, especially in critical moments 
  • Excellent communication and people skills. 
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can juggle multiple tasks. 
  • Compassionate, detail-oriented, and a team player. 
 
Preferred - Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or equivalent certification
